You have a 2 containers. Container A: 3 liters in volume. Container B: 5 liters in volume. There is another container which is 4 liters in volume. It is the target container. You need to pour exactly 4 liters of water into it from one or both of the containers. There is one rule. Both containers A & B should be empty just after the target is filled. That means the last drop from either of the containers or both of them goes straight into the target container, and not anywhere else. (So basically, you cant pour water into the target container from container B and spill away the last liter of water). How would you handle the task?
I like threads such as this (not that I knew the answer to that one - mathematics never was my strong suit). So here's mine: Can you think of a sentence in which there are 5 consecutive 'and's in it, but makes perfect grammatical sense?
I gave you the answer that your little brain struggled to come up with.. Now, go to movie/music/video games sections!
Hopefully you eventually understand that insulting people tends to make them dislike and avoid you...I am done with your "FUN" thread.
You fill B and use it to fill the target, then empty it. You empty the target into B and then fill the target from B. Which is cheating....
OK, fill B and use it to fill A, which leaves 2 litres in B which you empty into the target. Empty A and fill B, and use it to fill A, then empty A. Empty the 2 litres left in B into the target, and it's done. I think.
Yes that is the solution. I had a similar solution. Fill A (3 liters) twice into B (5 litters). You are left with 1 liter in A. Empty A's 1 liter into the target. Refill A fully (should have 3 liters) and empty it to the target. A lot of people think it is complex. But it isnt.
