When you think about it, if the asteroid hadn't caused that 'catastrophic winter', dinosaurs would still be roaming the earth ( ) to this very day. And if it had splashed into one of the oceans, which cover over three quarters of the earth's surface, it was a case of seriously bad luck for them, too. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-41825471
Most of them would have died from a lack of food/water then as man evolved we would have killed those remaining...
My assumption was if dinosaurs did not go extinct that 'when' humans evolved we would have killed them into extinction...
Early on we would have been a snack but as humans evolved and it was necessary to survive humans would find a way to destroy them...
I know that and I stated that...I was just saying even if dinosaurs survived the asteroid humans would have killed them off as they got in the way...
IF humans were somehow on the planet with dinosaurs....we would have been eaten or killed with them during the extinction. But the little mammals that managed to survive took millions of years to even become primates....let alone human.
I get this...all I'm saying is even if dinosaurs were not terminated during the extinction event that 1) they would die from starvation and 2) when humans came along they would kill any that were a nuisance...
So, if not for the big die off, do ya think we would have an evolved and advanced life form today, in our place, while we never evolved to be what we are today? Smaller, very intelligent, space faring dinos? Or, was only hominids capable of evolving into what we evolved into? And would then the dino god, look just like a dino? lol Ok, I admit it. I am rather bored today. I am even wondering is McKenna was right in that our brain doubled in size because of us moving out of the trees due to climate change and ingesting psychedelic mushrooms which opened up new way of neuro-connections, eventually expanding our minds and brains into modern man. After all, mushrooms in micro doses are popular with the egg heads in silicon valley because of the effects of it, positive effects in cognition. Better living through ancient chemistry? lol
If we humans were the creatures we are today, you would have a point. If we were Roman centurions trying to fight off Velociraptors and T-Rex....we would be lunch.
There would for sure be human carnage but over time I'm guessing humans will win the battle...even those Romans...
You have far more faith in human ingenuity, speed, ability and perhaps a skewed understanding of Human vs. Dinosaur population levels.
Humans have conquered everything else on Earth, and not saying it would be a cake-walk, but humans win in the end...assuming annihilation of dinosaurs is winning...maybe some of them could be trained as pets...
Heh....yup....welcome to the Flintstones. I'm sure those couple hundred thousand Lil' naked Apes would make mince meat outa those Millions of Huge reptiles and flying tooth holders.
Maybe not minced meat but one rock, one arrow, one spear at a time. And if we ignore the bird species and the herbivores and only focus on the more ferocious carnivores, I still believe over time humans will come out on top...
I just prefer to believe that if humans are fighting for their survival they can rise to the occasion as needed...in the face of extinction I'm hoping humans can be quite resilient...especially if we can round up some of those gun-toting cowboys in Texas and Alabama...the Grand Showdown...
No, that's not what happened. We know that that sea levels were as much as 200 feet high. The scientific community universally agrees that sea levels never change except for global warming and global warming can only be caused by burning fossil fuels. Accordingly we know that dinosaurs were massively industrialized burning massive amounts of fossil fuels for their factories. Give the size dinosaurs became, that meant their cars, aircraft, houses and other energy demands of fossil fuels were equally massive. Cars half the size of football fields. Houses the size of stadiums. Aircraft the size of aircraft carriers. Plus such as the methane for their dinosaur size poop. Finally, the climate change and global warming their industrialization destroyed them. People should learn from this. As people on average get taller, they use more fossil fuels which causes greater climate change. Fortunately, the technologically FINALLY exists to assure that humans become smaller by genetically modifying human sperm and female egg, for which necessary laws could be passed requiring genetically modification to assure that no one is born who is over 3 feet tall. This would, within a generation, lead to a reversal of climate change. Thereafter the climate could be fully regulated by regulating the size of people. To cool the earth, have the next generation be made larger. To warm the climate, then have the next generation made smaller. Only a religious zealot would dispute the findings of climate change experts.
In our current position, and even 50 yrs. ago....we would have the population and technology to fight and kill Dinosaurs. At ANY point before this....I doubt it very much.
It would have been an interesting test of humans, and IMO they would have discovered and developed applicable weapons, and because of the formidable task of fighting large and aggressive meat eaters, the human species would have advanced quicker than it did and perhaps down a different path...sort of like how WWII gave the USA the impetus to realize leaps and bounds in technology and manufacturing, etc.
As I said....50 years ago this was possible. It is highly unlikely we would have advanced quickly enough from the bow and arrow (which would just bounce off) however.
