    OPINION
You should welcome Iran's decision to send navy vessels to the Gulf of Mexico

Americans should welcome the pledge by Iran's navy chief, Wednesday, to send warships to the Gulf of Mexico.

According to Iranian news reports, the vessels will visit ports in the Gulf (presumably Cuba?) before returning to Iranian waters.

Yet while this might seem like a threat to the U.S. and our interests, I see it as an opportunity. Even if Iran reaches the gulf, which is very much questionable, the U.S. will be the one to benefit.

After all, most of the time Iran's navy is floating around the Persian Gulf harassing various vessels. In turn, it's a rare opportunity for the U.S. Navy to see how Iranian sailors operate far out in the oceans. And just as training makes skill, intelligence gathering feeds better warfighting capabilities.

As it monitors the Iranians, the U.S. Navy will seek to gather intelligence on a wide range of concerns. These might include the Iranian crew routines, how the sailors and their capabilities attempt to monitor the U.S. assets monitoring them, the technical capabilities Iran possess for oceanic combat operations, the reliability of Iranian equipment, the countries and individuals that the Iranian flotilla choose to visit and the communications the flotilla exchanges with headquarters in Iran.

That's just the tip of the iceberg......snip~

The Washington Examiner put out this opinion. Must have been a real slow day yesterday. The writer forgets that all he mentions. Is what the Iranians are attempting to do.

    Two possibilities come to mind:
    1) They aren't Americans.
    2) They are young and foolish or old and bitter.

I think though the most significant part is not the "Gulf of Mexico" but visit some South American countries" now we can hardly expect an itinerary but I would place a very large bet Puerto Cabello is on the port of call list

That's so nice to know, but maybe you and Max can provide one of my anti-American posts? Or will you scurry away, with innuendo being your crutch?

Understand that I distinguish between America (the United States) and its government, the US government. They are 2 separate things, though some comingle them.

Of course you can't be bothered dear. You can't defend Max's false claims against me anymore than he or MMC can.

What's that with you in your pocket....?

Yes, it's so easy to offer slander, but much more difficult to prove or defend it. Innuendo can be a useful tool if it's unchallenged.

No you don't. In this thread alone:
You keep whining about US "military aggression" but never any other nation like Mother Russia or the People's Republic of China. Why do you have such a narrow view of world events?

I've already addressed this in post 171. Do you not think that "and wave the Iranian flag in the Gulf of Mexico" is not just playing with words that are not to be taken literally? They will not sail anywhere near the Gulf and they won't sail anywhere near South America.

You can be a very amusing poster, and this is one of the times. It shows that yes, some of the people can be fooled all of the time, and apparently forever.

Factual and truthful statements regarding the recent behavior of the US government which is by definition "military aggression" is not anti-American posts.

I'm not happy that the government of my country is a criminal organization, but it is criminal by its actions. That you support such criminality reflects on you, not me.

Yes, it is when you only see one side of it and never in context. For example; if a person only posted about black people committing crimes, but never, ever white people, would you think they were a racist scumbag or not?

The fact you tell lies like falsely accusing others of supporting "such criminality" is a reflection on your character....or lack of it, sir.

If the shoe fits Max, you must wear it.

The record is crystal clear that the US government took the country to war under fraud, and committed military aggression in the process. That you support that fraud, and all the other crimes since in Libya and Yemen and so many other places, means that you have a very stinky shoe to wear.

Give me something to work with here--show me somehow you condemn military aggression.

    That works both ways, Leu.

I was against the war in Iraq for several reasons, including some you mention.
Now show me where you've condemned Russia and China for their "military aggression" from the Cold War to present.

Good, I'm glad to hear you too objected to Colin Powell's lies told before the world community at the UN.

You want me to condemn Russia and China? That is a rather weird condition to ask for.

Russia was invited into Syria, and that greatly explains their military success there. They took Crimea to keep their port. I don't blame them a bit for that, and the subsequent election showed the people we happy to be back in Russia. The US machinations in Ukraine by Nuland were threatening to Russia.

The Chinese have dredged up some sand islands in the South China Sea. I don't see that as threatening to the US.

LOL. I knew you couldn't put anything into perspective. While you won't agree, I'm sure others will agree with me on my perception that you are anti-American and pro-Russian/pro-Chinese.

You've addressed nothing... just you making assumptions, if they say they're going in that direction and you dispute it then at least give a valid reason why.

Iran has very close ties to South America, they have every reason to go there and with Trumps threat to use military force in Venezuela a warship sounds like a good idea to me

The same Iranian guy who announced that Iranian warships would be in the Gulf of Mexico.. just claimed that Iran will destroy Israel if there is another confrontation with Hezbollah.
