When it comes to war on foreign soil I would like to see my government do whatever it takes to win.

 

Despite those who claim the US is evil, the fact remains we should (and usually do) go to war reluctantly. However, as you just wrote, when we do go to war, we should go to win.

The point is that the 4th has already been nullified, 15 years ago, and you seem to happily accept that fact with no complaint. That's my point.

And torture and murder them. Abu Ghraib and Gitmo are prime examples. Many of those who were detained were eventually released without charges. Some are still being detained who have been scheduled for release.

America and its government are 2 entirely different entities, you need to learn to differentiate between the two. America is not doing any of this, this is the work of its rogue government.

The default position is common sense and the recognition that those who are American citizens but fighting for our enemies that have killed many innocent and law abiding American citizens (they justify this by claiming that US taxpayers (or their parents) fund military actions against ISIS, AQ, Taliban, .... ) have become enemy combatants and are fair game.

 

Who is doing that? Please site the post because I must have missed it. Surely you can understand why it might be a bad idea to strip American's of their due process based on accusations. If it turns out they guy actually did take up arms against the US then he gets the firing squad. I mean, c'mon, do you really have a problem with this?

 

It appears that many here at PF would prefer just such a system here in the USA.

 

Why is a trial needed for something so simple? All you need it a military tribunal to identify who the guy is, so once he was "caught" on the "battlefield" we could easily execute him for being a traitor. Easy peasy.
