Bill de Blasio likens himself to Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and Mahatma Gandhi. http://theweek.com/speedreads/74529...mself-thomas-edison-henry-ford-mahatma-gandhi
Did you actually read the quote from politico that is within the article, or is skimming more your thing? Because the quote shows that NY Mayor DeBlasio mentioned those names of famous people to show that they first FAILED at something before magnificently succeeding. THAT was the point, one that can clearly be gleaned if you actually take the time to READ the material. So, no, did didn't liken himself to them. He used their names to illustrate a point. Now, whether or not that was stuck-up or obnoxious of him to have said it, I suppose that is in the eye of the beholder. I bet that were that quote from Trump instead of DeBlasio, you would be praising it to the highest of heavens right now. And just to remind: DeBlasio is the Mayor of the largest city in the USA, which means he has the responsibility for more people than many Governors.
You really shouldn't point out the intellectual sloppiness and leaps to conviction that hyper partisans regularly make. It makes them look foolish not to mention denigrates their level of literacy.
bill de blasio deserves to be mocked at every turn, but this just doesn't work out the way you wanted it to.
de Blasio's point is that despite "his bold failure of a "progressive agenda" that he initially announced in 2014, de Blasio called it "banal and simplistic" to suggest he might fail again if he takes the plan national" and compares his potential self to those who have failed but also succeeded in historically significant ways. That should be obvious to anyone who reads the piece.
Sounds like the very reason that his own selfish attachment to his own failure should preclude his introduction of those policies nationally. Right? He's saying, for sure, my policies suck, failed to produce, if only we could do the same thing nationally? Seriously? It's laughable.
Why do "progressives" always change their name? Warren Wilhelm, then Warren de Blasio-Wilhelm, then Bill de blasio. Maybe they are running away from their failures.
