Its not the probability of success thats the problem. Of course we would succeed. Its the hundreds of thousands of dead South Koreans and likely Japanese that is the problem.
I think missiles and nukes come overland from China. I doubt they are received by sea. I could be wrong. By the way, blockade is an act of war. Sounds as impossible as talking kim out of his nukes and missiles. I think the only way to assassinate him is to wage war.
I dont actually believe NK would truely start a new war. They simply want a mechanism to ensure regime survival.
Pretty much. But the hawks on this board are more than happy to sacrifice them in the name of America Freedom.
Exactly ... this is why US have to be sure to be able to impede to North Korea to use its nukes. Obviously "Fat Kim" would try and hit Seoul and Tokyo, in case of American attack.
Mistake? A mistake is measured in its consequences. Is Bush in prison? Has the US, as a nation, been prevented from furthering its treachery all through the Middle East and beyond? None of the above? Then please tell me why you think his illegal invasion of Irak was a "MISTAKE".
course not, but when it starts Ill take my chances with the U.S. arsenal any day. China cant even make garden hoses work correctly.
But by jingo if we must The ENTIRETY of Un's rockets and bombs program is for home propaganda, it's sabre ratting which makes us tighten the sanctions and Un then uses that to assure his people even more that we ARE out to get them. Just for a minute take off the Trump issued blood-colored glasses and THINK. If you were really intending on attacking someone would you TELL them so? Especially if they were a LOT bigger and stronger than you? By all indications UN is an evil sociopath and crazier than a druggist's rat, but he is NOT suicidal. He is playing us like a fiddle, and the problem is that Trump seems too stupid to see that and will take him seriously
That is an increasing concern, but so far does not appear a real problem https://www.heritage.org/asia/report/free-markets-and-national-defense-us-import-dependence-china
The CIA has failed miserably in the past at analyzing the internal situations of other countries, and so we may assume they are equally ignorant about North Korea. However, the Chinese may know a lot more about the internal situation than we do. And if they think that an internal coup against the Kim dynasty is viable, then they might be willing to facilitate that, so long as the resulting regime does not become a cat's paw for the US. So perhaps Trump should make it clear to the Chinese that, should something happen to Un -- recall this scene from The Godfather -- and a less belligerent regime replace the current one, even a regime very closely aligned with China -- that in that case, the US will work out a deal, along with China, among the two Koreas, perhaps one aiming at eventual unification, but without an American presence. Add to that inducement, the prospect of an expanded trade agreement with China -- I know this runs counter to Trump's protectionism, but I'm just engaging in a hypothetical exercise here. China is going to be the dominant regional power soon, displacing the US, on the way to becoming the dominant world power, again displacing the US -- and this will happen even if the current internal moral decay of the US were to be halted. We want to ensure that this occurs smoothly, without war, and in such a way that everyone benefits. There is good reason to believe that the Chinese are not happy with the North Korean maniac, and we both have a mutual interest in seeing him replaced. So maybe there is room for co operation. If the Chinese cannot or will not arrange for this to be done 'peacefully' then, if a military option is decided on -- and I hope it's not -- it should be done with as much forewarning to China as possible.
There was quite a story about it. In the beginning of May 1945 it was all over in Europe. Hitler was no longer. And the biggest nazists ran to capitulate to the Allies and not the USSR. Allies accepted capitulation which was accepted by soviet colonel who was the biggest officer in the closest spot. It all happened on the 8th of May and is still a date of celevration. But Stalin said - no. THIS war cannot end like that. And he organized the next day capitulation as an event we know and which finished when it was the 9th of May in Moscow. Americans liked the Stalin approach and when they appeared in the same situation with Japan they demanded their terms for Japanese capitulation. To say that USSR ended the war would be an exaggeration. The same as for allied activity in western and southern Europe against Germany. There was a problem of how to finish the war with Japan. Invasion on main islands was a guaranteed death for half a million of americans. And these americans needed to be trained and delivered somehow in quantities required. It would take time. This is why the americans used nukes. One of their aims to use it. This is why the USSR had obligations to attack. The speed and success of soviet strike showed that there is no use to continue war. The US started a cold war with the USSR right after the end of the WWII. And that is why Japan was occupied and still has no peace treaty with Russia.
Why not? Kim can count on the support from millions of bedwetting liberals in America and around the world who always think America is evil If kim has to nuke san francisco or hawaii to protect himself from donald trump they will understand
Apparently some of our CIA agents are made in china too and no more reliable that the electronic chips http://www.cnn.com/2018/01/16/politics/former-cia-officer-arrested-top-secret/index.html Lee is an immigrant from china
We often hear about CIA failures, mostly from the gloating of our enemies, but we rarely if ever hear about CIA successes. Why? Because it was successful. Agreed China knows more than we do by the simple fact they have people on the inside. This is the top reason why 1) China controls the situation and 2) why Kim won't do anything stupid since the Chinese won't allow it.
But Japan holds 8th place in the top 10 of countries by military expenditures. Japan's military budget in 2016 was more than 46 billion dollars. What makes you think Japan is a peaceful nation? It's not obvious.
