I was making a sad joke that nothing starts at the top of this administration, but I'm still thinking about that horrible quote from McConnell.... Cannot believe probably the most important member of the Senate would so completely disregard the role of his entire branch of government like that....

    SNIP
"I'm looking for something that President Trump supports. And he's not yet indicated what measure he's willing to sign," McConnell told reporters Wednesday. "As soon as we figure out what he is for, then I would be convinced that we were not just spinning our wheels going to this issue on the floor but actually dealing with a bill that has a chance to become law and therefore solve the problem."
    ENDSNIP

I've saved this to a textfile.....

So then McConnell and Durbin vote on what they went to the meeting with, see if it passes, if it does, send it to tWump.
Of course, R's were against it.

The Freedom Caucus is 31 seats in the House out of 240 total Republicans. The Republicans don't have a functional majority unless the Free Dumbs go along with something.
But if the moderates put forth a bill that intentionally ignored the demands of the Free Dumbs, more than 31 Democrats would vote for it!

Those other 209 Republicans would have no problem at all passing legislation because Democrats are not idiots.
If a bill does something they like and will be good for the country, they will vote for it.

Everybody knows they HAVE to pass CHIP and a fix for DACA because not doing either will be a massive disruption to the economy and get them all fired. According to a Center for American Progress study earlier this year, the estimated loss of DACA workers would reduce U.S. GDP by $433 billion over the next 10 years.

And 70% of Americans want DACA immigrants to get a break and a reasonable, affordable path to legal residency and citizenship.
It is time to stop bowing to the bullies.

Yep... that's the way I understand it works in this country.... Graham/Durbin had some R support and was a lot closer to 60 votes than this CR ever was....

It's the only bi-partisan thing out there, as I understand it....

I'm guessing the D's are hanging their hat on 70-80% of Americans want some DACA solution, keeping them here.
And rolling the dice on this.
If that number is accurate, some tWump supporters want DACA agreement. Perhaps as much as 50% of them.

This is a problem I have long spoken of. The fact that we citizens do not run the government We don't get within smelling distance of running it. Fortunately the congress does pass funding bills but the Feds still have a huge sum of cash so can continue paying for many things. Things the Democrats expect to blame on Trump could be piddling like parks closing.

According to what I just read the other day, that figure is somewhat accurate...somewhere between 45 and 55% of conservatives want at least some kind of compromise bill where Dreamers maybe pay a fine, or get means tested according to ability and grades, background checked and tax checked. If they're 100% clean they get to apply for the Green Card and then have to keep out of trouble and demonstrate something meritorious.

I know that's a little vague but I am distilling various sources where conservatives mentioned anything from staying on a job and paying their taxes on time, to military service, to showing good grades to making their Moms and Dads go back ...etc etc etc.

I'm liberal but I can get behind a lot of the conservative demands...I don't even have a problem with us transitioning to a merit based immigration system, because most Western countries run theirs that way. Simple diversity quotas are meaningless if we can't get a lot of good performing immigrants in that mix, or any mix. The Dreamers we have represent a fairly good chunk of the economy, so just booting all of them out of here is actually cutting off our nose to spite our face.

His astonishing leadership and negotiating skills are absent and you still make excuses. In his zero sum, real estate "deal" mind he now claims "no talks until deal signed obstruction losers dems you". Captain Chaos - a truly flawed human being. Everybody is fire fighting his idiotic pyromania. America suffers.

It's not about "your plate" or how you feel. 80+% of Americans want to let the DACA kids and have a path to citizenship. Deporting the DACA kids would be political poison for Republicans.

Republicans should be very careful about carrying on about our homeless and our kids' medical care lest they raise expectations about doing something on those problems.

I am guessing the Democrats plan to walk the plank and hope they do not land in a cold ocean. I posted a poll today showing Trump is rising very quickly.

While true, I believe your using phony figures. Frankly what is in this for Democrats? Don't try to tell me this is about children.

What are you carrying on about now?

You try so hard, I should be sympathetic over your problem making sense. (I'm not.)

    No. There's much more.
But I will stop for the night with RWers quoting their most hated news source. After the RWers shut down the gov't.

Everyone knows, real news to the right, is news that agrees with their bias.
It's why they only have 1 source.
