you can't negotiate with someone like Trump as even Trump doesn't know what he wants, he agrees to one thing then the next day changes his mind, over and over... that is all on Trump...
Hahaha! Yeah, Trump is the one refusing to fund the government. Meanwhile Pelosi and company are celebrating the shutdown at a fancy restaurant in DC. Pathetic.
False. The majority of DACA recipients work and pay billions in taxes. I have no desire to break up DACA families who came here as children at no fault of their own.
Because Schumer wanted to hold Trump to 1.5 billion when he wants 20! Jesus Christ, you all cheered Mr. Obatard on all the way to eight Trillion and now you sit around here bawling about 20 lousy billion? FFS give a little will ya
Doubtful, unless they're drop out from College! Sorry but your numbers don't jive with people working and paying billons in tax's! If fact the numbers demonstrate a huge group most likely to be saddled with educational loans "PROVIDED" my hard working Americans most likely living in fly over country and the deep red south
Not only do they contribute, but it will hurt the economy if they are deported. There's no reason for this. Dreamers are not lawbreakers. It also estimated that the loss of those workers could cost the country $460.3 billion in economic output over the next decade, with Medicare and Social Security contributions dropping by $24.6 billion. http://fortune.com/2017/08/31/daca-dreamers-jobs-donald-trump/
CHIP expired September 30th. When the funds run out varies from state to state.Alabama has frozen enrollment and others are preparing to try and move kids to other programs. With the height of flu season picking up, those funds will likely dry up even quicker.
You do realize that over 10 years you are talking 46 billion a years, right? That's hardly a boon in comparison to what they are costing the taxpayers in social spending, law enforcement and educational spending. Again the numbers really don't jive with your claims, the average age of college students/grads dictates that most DACA/dreamer are well into their early 30's before they ever actually enter in to gainful employment.. You can spin the numbers all you like but the two pieces of data I provided discredit everything you are trying to say here.. It's just a fact that undereducated DACA/Dreamers are hardly a plus economically and DACA/Dreamers in pursuit of higher education statistically don't/haven't entered gainful employment until the are over thirty! So you times that by 690K and time spent underemployed along with their illegal parents working under the radar and they are not really worth the expense or trouble when those resources could be spent on internal programs for young American children and young adults!
Republicans couldn't even get all their own members to pass the debt ceiling /How many voted against it? Four? They have 51 members. That mans they were short 3 votes WITHOUT Dems for a straight vote even AFTER debate ends.
Much like Obamacare had nothing to do with the debt ceiling back in 2013, DACA has nothing to do with the budget process. Both were/are nothing more than partisan political ploys. Personally, I would call this the Schumer shutdown since he was the one who threw the monkey wrench into what should be purely a funding, money process. How the public views this, remains to be seen. But adding something that has nothing to do with the budget process at all, that in my opinion is irresponsible on Schumer's part. Just like it was irresponsible for the republicans to add Obamacare to the debt ceiling. Perhaps Schumer is trying to out irresponsible the GOP.
Yes the 2013 WAS naked politics by the GOP. They seem to LIKE government shutdowns. In THIS case however..DACA is about to run out and these kids are going to get deported if this isn't included in THIS bill.
Basically never before in the history of the US has one party held the interests of lawbreaking foreign nationals ahead of the interests of law abiding Americans.
Sounds like an excuse just to add something that hasn't a thing to do with the budget process. Just like the GOP did with Obamacare. This is why I could never be a member or support any of the two major parties. republicans lash out at democrat's for attaching something completely alien to the budget process, DACA and Democrats last out at republicans for adding Obamacare to the debt ceiling which had nothing to do with the debt ceiling. Both parties think/thought they were right in adding whichever and both parties think the other wrong in adding something that has nothing to do with either process. Both were/are partisan political ploys for political gain and advancement of an agenda. A search for votes where each party can play the blame game. The above is why you have this according to yougov. although it was taken just prior to the shutdown. 46A. Favorability of Congressional political parties - Democrats in Congress: All adults 35% favorable, 51% unfavorable. But independents and independents only. 21% favorable 54% unfavorable. 46B. Favorability of Congressional political parties - Republicans in Congress: All adults 28% favorable, 58% unfavorable. But indpendents and independents only: 20% favorable 53% unfavorable. https://d25d2506sfb94s.cloudfront.net/cumulus_uploads/document/gcv50vr08k/econTabReport.pdf Check out the non-affiliated, non-partisan independent numbers. It's a pox on both parties in congress. How the shut down will affect those numbers or whom independents will blame is unknown at this time. Fact is independents are increasing as the two major parties are shrinking. It is because of dissatisfaction with both as they play their political games to enhance the good of the party over the good of the country. Look at the numbers. Party affiliation as of December 2012, Democrats 35%, Republicans 30%, Independents 32% Party affiliation as of December 2017, Democrats 27%, Republicans 25%, Independents 46%.
