https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/29/...memo-vote-house-intelligence-republicans.html Trump has 5 days to review the memo and make a decision to block or release. My question is thus: What is your opinion on the value of releasing this memo? Provide your analysis if you answer the poll and participate. No **** posting or trolling please, if you're going to talk here then talk on topic or go perform anatomically improbable sex acts on common farm chattels. I'm for seeing it myself. At this point enough legitimate questions have been raised via the various leaks etc, that the only way to come close to satisfying yourself as to what actually happened is to see the same report the critters are looking at. I want to see the documents myself, and I want to read them in toto. What say you, good people? Release or Block?
We ALL really need to see if and or how corrupt our government has become. The FBI has prided itself for staying "above" politics even though they were very corrupt under Hoover. But this past election shows they have gone overboard with political decisions letting Clinton off the hook. Comey SHOULD have told Lynch it isn't his job to decide to prosecute. It's the DoJ's job to make that decision. Never mind that Comey's team made that decision two months before Comey's press conference that let Clinton off the hook. And then it goes downhill from there. Steve
The problem with most of the abuses is that they are entirely legal. The entire patriot act was written so poorly and broadly that it only takes a few buzz words from lawyers well schooled in their use to get these warrants. Just like with the unmasking, all it takes is a request for context to get citizens unmasked. Whether the person thats requesting the unmasking has a need to know is simply assumed.
Release both...after they have been redacted properly..and release the redacted underlying material that went into drafting them
Wont see any complaints from me. We know the target already so as long as methods are redacted, I would love to see it. Releasing the source info would habe tje added benefit of making the partisan memos useless.
translation....please hide the truth from the American public, if they find out what weve really been up to, its trouble for democrats.
The only safeguards of legality is the SCOTUS, and the SCOTUS is reactive, not proactive. This is "good" in the sense that I'm a Third Positionist and believe the State is the one best suited for understanding its political reality. But it's "bad" in the sense that the State is not presently politically healthy and thus cannot actually render laws effectively. Basically, I wish the SCOTUS struck down the Patriot Act regardless of a docket being brought to them or not.
I have very little faith in the politicians that make up the SCOTUS. They are all selected on a basis of their politics where they should be selected on the absence of politics.
True. The politicization of even the Court itself makes this whole thing a mess. Donald Trump promised to clean up a swamp and boy what a swamp it has turned out to be. We as a people have to reflect on how much our apathy has led to the corrosion of trust, laws and the effectiveness of those laws. I want the release of both memos, all memos. According to that NY Times article(take it for what it's worth), they used "other sources of information" in the FISA warrant. What "other sources" and have they been vouched for? Charges against the Executive Branch are not charges against some lowly criminal. It's a charge that affects the Public and thus the Public has the obligation to know. Hell, the defense itself(the President in this case) should have been made aware of what these charges were and how the evidence was collected.
