I would like to see other options to determine if UBI is actually the best option for when human labor is not in demand.

How much of your income are you willing to give up to achieve that goal? 10%, 20%, 50% or 90%?

Note, I said humane. It is inhumane to accept an intolerable living condition for people who live legally in the richest country on earth, for one.

For two, we have a societal moral duty to care for one another. A lack of caring is why this country is such a wreck.

I already pay a lot in taxes, and a lot of it goes to systems I don't agree with, like the vast quantities of overseas aid, military bases on every country on earth, vastly overbloated payout to contracts in the military, etc.

Again for clarity........."How much of your income are you willing to give up to achieve that goal? 10%, 20%, 50% or 90%?"....or do you think other people should sacrifice, but not you?

Great idea if properly implemented, a disaster if not.

Let's see what happens before panicking and shrieking at the sky - what say? :)

Everyone thinks that, but you're evading the question.........."How much of your income are you willing to give up to achieve that goal? 10%, 20%, 50% or 90%?"

Already answered in the reply you quoted, unless you need his Social Security number to verify his exact tax bracket...? :)

    Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah.

I evade nothing. I already said I pay a lot in taxes. I'll elaborate. I pay a lot, and I would be alright with that if it went for things I cared about. Not bullets and bombs and caskets for our boys sent to die in a foreign shithole.

Meh. If somebody is dumb enough to try this, at least it is a sh1thole like Stockton, and not a city that anybody gives a cr@p about. As long as the state does not kick any money into it.

Tell us in a percentage like asked? How much of your income are you willing to give up in order to achieve economic equality? 10%, 20%, 50% or 90%? Tell us all how generous you are. OR is that just for others to do?

I already pay over 30% and would be fine with that number remaining the same if it went to supporting AMERICANS IN NEED instead of bombing and shooting up foreign nations.

Universal minimum income isn't meant to replace work. It is meant to maintain a minimum living standard for those who cannot get by in our kleptocapitalist system.

Check out this list from the automation thread.

I thinks its exactly what you're looking for. Personally, I don't think UBI is such a bad idea, but at the same time,
I disagree with those who say that its the best/only idea. I much prefer the first idea posted in the linked list.
But if UBI is the thing that can be agreed to, its certainly better than nothing.

I would actually like to see a FEW cities around the country be used for different economic models for health and welfare.
We’ve had the same problems year after year while maintaining the status quo - so why not experiment a bit to see if other models MIGHT work better.
Experimentation is what intelligent people do.

The neo marxist answers to problems creates even more serious problems. It did not work in the last century and will not work in this one.

Which tells us that the gun control laws aren’t very effective. Good to know.

So why are conservatives freaking out about a city trying a new economic model? It may or may not work, but wouldn’t that be good to know?
