There is not, nor has there ever been, a nation of Palestine. I will prove this by asking a few questions. I doubt that anyone can answer them. But feel free to try. The simple fact is that it never existed. You can prove me wrong by answering just one of these questions. When was it founded and by whom? What were its borders? What was its capital? What were its major cities? What constituted the basis of its economy? What was its form of government? Can you name at least one Palestinian leader before Arafat? Was Palestine ever recognized by a country whose existence, at that time or now, leaves no room for interpretation? What was the language of the country of Palestine ? What was the prevalent religion of the country of Palestine ? What was the name of its currency? Choose any date in history and tell what was the approximate exchange rate of the Palestinian monetary unit against the US dollar, German mark, GB pound, Japanese yen, or Chinese yuan on that date. And, finally, since there is no such country today, what caused its demise and when did it occur? Thanks to MGB ROADSTER for posting these questions. Unfortunately, his thread was closed because of RULE 11.
Why do you think that means something? It's irrelevant. And your post shows your amazing ignorance of the facts about the controversy and conflict.
Palestine was a region populated by nomads and goat herders. There were settlements, but no official nation. There never has been. They didn't really have much that could be recognized as a nation. The British took the area after some war; couldn't deal with the issues that came with it, and decided to give it to the Jews displaced by WWII, since the british didn't want the hassle and everyone knew Jerusalem was founded by Jews after purchasing the land where the temple used to be from someone who lived there many years ago. 1500 bce? I can't remember. Something like that. Of course, those living there got angry. They lived there a long time and wondered what the hell? How do you give our land to someone else? Well, they have a right to be angry about that. I think it was taken during the Crusades. They didn't do much with it, but lived there as best they could. Oh, they did build the dome of the rock in like the 600s ce. Returning Jews watered the desert in places and planted crops, built housing and developed the land. The country grew in prosperity and gained acceptance, though it has always been hotly contested. Jerusalem is hotly contested because of the rock under the golden dome. Someone ascended from there, I believe. Abraham may have attempted to sacrifice Isaac there. I have issues with all of that since I have grown older. It's too much like an idol, in my opinion. I didn't think either religion permitted idols. So, it feels weird to me, like they are both wrong. I'm not even close to an expert, so I might be mistaken about the idol part, but it just feels like it. And, my Catholic faith has all kinds of places like that and I think it's somewhat like idol worship. I didn't used to feel that way, but I have since I got into reading things. The importance isn't in the rock or the place someone was crucified, born or buried, but in the messages and the faith. I feel like it should be the same with the other two religions. I believe that's pretty close for a fairly general answer including my unsupported opinions.
Abu Tfu on him Arafat invented the word "Palestinians". Most of them are Bedouins who came to settle in the holy land from Egypt, Lybia, Iraq and other Arab countries.
Britain decided to give a 'national home' to a nation that didn't exist in a territory over which the UK hat not the slightest conceivable right, because it meant they could get Zionist loans when things were bad in the War.. We got ourselves involved in fighting the natives of Palestine on behalf of the Zionists, despite their rights under the Mandate, and suffered Nazi-style terrorism by the settlers, so Ernest Bevin decided to pull out and let the settlers be wiped out - but, of course, we had weakened the natives too much by then, so the Hitler-sympathisers were able to get support from countries who didn't want displaced persons, or countries like Haiti which they bribed. Naturally the British made no arrangement with the Nazi-style terrorists.
They never settled one damn thing. It wasn't their culture. When others came and built nice comfortable homes with water, sewerage, electricity and the modern amenities, they started settling down. They have little claim to those, yet, I'd be okay if it was all razed before giving it back the way it was when those "evil" Jews got it. Mean? Blame my culture for that. It's not my call, anyway.
The following nations recognize the State of Palestine, within the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_recognition_of_the_State_of_Palestine The UN also recognizes the State of Palestine as a real, legitimate state.
Well, would you look at that. The same ones who support terrorists and invite Muslim immigrants to come live with them. You'll have to forgive me if I don't accept the acclamation of these godless countries. They're part of the problem. Now, can you answer the rest of the questions?
There are no native Palestinians. They are all from other countries. They don't belong there. Never have. It is the ancestral home of the Jews. They are the real natives.
so someone who was born in a land and who's great-great-great grandparents were born there, is a FAKE native...but someone who's ancestors haven't lived in a land for 1,700 years is a TRUE native? when did you abandon all logic and rational arguments?
The Jews have a historical claim to that area. The Palestinians do not. They are squatters from other countries. They are Egyptian, Lebanese, Syrian...etc. They are not Palestinians.
Most of the Jews left Palestine by the 4th century. New people came in. You cannot deny the claim of people that have been there since the 12th century.
They didn't leave. They were evicted. Also, what have the Palestinians ever done with that land? For their entire existence there, it was a desert, and the people lived in squalor. When the Jews took over, they transformed it into a paradise. In fact, they grow enough food to export to the surrounding nations who hate them and want to destroy them. They literally want to bite the hand that feeds them. And as I mentioned before, the Palestinians were once offered everything they asked for, by Israel, if they would renounce violence and recognize Israel's right to exist. They turned it down. They could not even set aside their hatred long enough to sign a piece of paper that gave them everything they asked for. If they were smart, they would have signed it, then broke the treaty at a later date. So I have no sympathy for the fools. They got exactly what they deserve.
my ancestors haven't lived in Palestine for more than 1,000 years. but you think i have more right to live there than someone who's been there since the 12th century. makes zero sense. religion rarely does
most Jews chose to leave over the centuries. then the Muslims flooded in and became the dominant force since the 12th century
If you went on vacation, and returned to find that some squatters were living in your home, what would you do?
If my vacation lasted 1,200 years.....I'd welcome the new residents. i also don't think land deeds last 1,200 years, nor does anyone possess any paperwork showing land-ownership from 1,200 years ago. your arguments are silly and laughable
