29 Fascinating Photos Of 1960s Afghanistan I bet most Afghans deplorables would like to return back to the good old days. http://allthatsinteresting.com/1960s-afghanistan
I don't know what prompted the Russians to invade A-stan. But that was the beginning of Hell there which has not ended since.
I think I know why the Soviets invaded Afghanistan. You look at those photos and what runs through your mind...WHAT THE **** HAPPENED !!! 1965 Dad: Hey kids, instead of going to Disneyland for summer vacation how about we go to Afghanistan instead ? Bobby: That sounds really bitchen dad. Little Betty: That would be a real gas. Mom: I'm hip, sounds like a primo vacation. Teenage Suzy Rotten Crotch: Can I bring Billy my boyfriend with us ? I hear they have great submarine races in Afghanistan. What the hell happened to Afghanistan ?
According to my platoon sergeant Gy. Sgt. William T. Cabrerra (Cuban-American from NYC): "Your daze of fingerbanging Suzie Rottencroch thru her pretty pink panties are OVER !!! From now on you are married to this weapon of iron and wood and you WILL be faithful !!!" He was talking about the U.S. Rifle M-14. I loved mine. I still do.
I still love all of the M-14's I was issued. M-14 during boot camp; M-14 at 2nd ITR; M-1 Garand at Naval Gunfire School; M-16A1 at Staging Bat; M-16A1 in Vietnam; M-14 with the 5th Mar Amphib Berg.
To be fair, the previous government has already been overthrown by the local socialist group by the time the soviets intervened. Of course they made it worse. Then also, the US didn’t help things either by “assisting” the resistance.
Well I knew someone would blame the poor effing Russians! Afghanistan has been 'Hell' for every country which has made the mistake of invading the country, from us Brits way back when, to the Americans today. They're invincible and yet we're stupid enough to keep trying even though they see us off every time. How stupid is that??
Yup, it was already bad there. The Russians made it worse. And the USA made it absolutely awful. "Nation building" does not work. Neither does "regime change". Other than in Germany and Japan, which the USA had bombed into the Stone Age, the USA has failed miserably to "change" and "build" over the past 7 decades.
