She's bucked the trend for years by being an outspoken Republican in Hollywood; now African-American actress Stacey Dash is taking things to the next level by seeking to represent California in the House of Representatives. https://www.truthrevolt.org/news/stacey-dash-wants-turn-compton-republican Dash submitted paperwork on Monday to seek California's 44th District and area that includes Compton, Watts and the harbor region of Los Angeles. Dash registered her website to run, dashtodc.com on February 14. The star of Clueless and many other films and TV shows, began teasing fans on her Twitter account in early February about the possibility of a run. As CNN reports, Dash became a hot commodity as a conservative pundit after she endorsed Mitt Romney and was snapped up by Fox News as a commentator. She's smart, she's has the courage of her convictions and she is a Republican running for Congress. This district was big time Hillary Clinton country but voting records show voters will back Republicans including President George W. Bush, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Well she sure can win that district if she can get a grass roots organization going. If I were her or any GOP candidate I would make the platform about money. Show us the money! ( campaign slogan) That way they can throw in the Libs face constantly the fact they were 100% against tax reform bill My olive branch to minorities socially is pounding relentlessly the fact that Dems threw 1.8 million DACAS under the bus too Yep. She could run on those two items and win Compton
I wish her well, but her District is heavily Latino, and as far as I know, the incumbent, Nanette Diaz Barragan, is a shoe in. The guy she defeated in the last election has filed to run again. He is a Democrat as well. Then there is the "top two" blanket primary method California adopted. The chances of Dash finishing second in the primary is probably slim. The "Blanket Primary" Democrats successfully conned voters with pretty much insures no candidate from another party will have a chance to unseat a Democrat held position.
If we are smart enough to run one, while they run two, what would normally be 3rd place, is first or second. The GOP is the natural home of the African American voter, the Grandfathers have been quietly tell the younger black generations this for some time now. Dems haven't been giving them ****, and they won't get ****, as long as Dems can take them from granted. New kind of African American New kind of Woman New kind of GOP Congressional Candidate!
Clueless?!?!? Because she's Black!?!??! Haha, sorry I cant resist its just so fun to pop on the SJW hat for a moment and pretend everything is raccissttt. But seriously, shouldn't California be inclined to just give her the seat? Or in the State where they have quotas for everything from gender, to race, to sex preference, to hair color, to body mass index, to astrological sign, to ...I don't know ...favorite episode of Downtown Abbey ...do they not have a quota on Republicans in government? Hehe.
Only the top two vote getters move on after the Primary. It's a blanket primary. Party Affiliation means nothing. Last election Barragan and Hall were the top two. They defeated two Republicans and a number of others who ran in that primary. They both then appeared on the November General Election, and Barragan got the most votes. Dash will have to receive more votes than Democrat Hall, in a heavily Democrat district. Not impossible, but likely improbable.
Same Ole Tom, doesn't make it any difference because it is 2018. She is no different than those in 1918.
I have ALWAYS had the hots for her. She aint very smart though, and she is DOUR. Pruneface most of the time she is discussing issues. For this reason, I say she will fail miserably. But, I still think she is HAWT.
She is of Afro-Caribbean (Barbados) as well as Mexican descent. That along with being stunningly attractive and smart is a huge plus. But she's not even remotely Cherokee, and not sure if that will hurt or not. Her opposition is an attractive woman also. But me likey Stacy.
Oh I agree she has a real battle here but if she runs on a what have Democrats done for you, did the 8 years of Obama help you, is the neighbourhood better or worse for it…….…
It's weird how the right-wing doesn't like celebrities that speak politically until they run for a government position as a Republican politician...
Depends on how many Democrats run. The Democrat Party is fracturing into the Establishment/Bernie/All the other grievance groups wings. Key is, we only run ONE republican!
This is well said but Latinos are a pragmatic people. They are also fiercely loyal ( that helps the incumbent) Almost to a fault. They also are quite conservative on social views.... They don't like LGBT at all. Far more old fashioned than any hick from Alabama haha. So if Dash or any GOP speaks to their wallets... Then pounds DACA into their face, and just runs a non attack but confronting how we need people up there that can negotiate not obstruct? Basically that she respects the incumbent but.. Yeah Mmm I dunno. I think any GOP could run on all of this fiscal and social wins and do quite well
