Then they won't have the money Greece is bleeding them for. The folks they elected allowed that to happen.
Ah, gatestone. No surprise. Of course you read 'all the time', and, unfortunately, you seem to be completely unaware as to what gatestone and other websites like that are all about. If you trust these sources, there is no hope. I can read the original articles they use, you can't. Have had this discussion with horribly illinformed yanks hundres of times, it's always like explaining the most simple basics to a junior high school kid. You have to rely on translations, incorrect summaries, and highly manipulative nonsense like gatestone. Try harder than gatestone, breitbart and all that other brainwashing crap only clueless fools believe in. I've been reading 'merican websites for many years, mostly on European domestic policies, and oh boy, they hardly get anything right. Really bad journalism (and I'm not only talking about sh** like gatestone).
I did not blame you so stop wasting my time with silly responses Its in out national interests to have balanced trade and that means you either buy more from America or we buy less from you
You live in Germany? What are those no go zones like? Anyway, Harleys have always been a rare sight in Europe so you probably won't notice Harley no longer ships them to the Eu.
Ya those scam-mobiles you shipped are great.. After that blatant attempt to pollute the U.S. and burn every American customer out of their money I'd like to see the U.S. stop all auto imports from Germany!
The tariff Sure, they all do that. For example BMW and Chrysler both have about the same American content. So are you going to tariff by part now? You are going to be very busy.
I used this example in another thread because it was easy to define. The A-rabs are dumping oil, so 200,000 people involved with fracking lost their jobs. We could put a $50 a barrel tariff on oil and all those jobs would come back. Gas would go to $4.50 -$5.00 a gallon costing the average American driver about $1000 a year plus the increased cost of all the stuff that uses oil and transportation costs for goods. Total cost... Over 112 billion dollars. A gift of a little over 560,000 per employee to the oil companies. Should we do it?
Oil will eventually go back up to normal levels, and we would be paying those retails then anyways. So why not? We would be better off as a nation, a People if we did it like we used to in other areas. Make what we consume, using our own people, so they have jobs, and let every other nation do the same damned thing. Of course, the only reason we are not doing this, as our Founders set up, with tariffs to protect america from slave labor is because of the self interests of our elites. America has never needed to export to be in good shape, at least in good shape for the People. We have always exported in order to help out a few at the top, primarily. It has always been like this. Those corporations who want perpetual growth want to export, for providing goods and services for america is just not enough for them. So, the nations they export to, these days, could manufacture what they import and employ their own people. Let each nation provide its own goods and services. If you want to then trade to keep relations good, then trade a little. We could buy french wine, they could buy something that is american. But when trade is used to exploit the poor elsewhere for their slave labor wages, this is not trade at all. It is parasitic behavior of our capitalists. And it hollows out our own nation of jobs which is paid by taxpayers in welfare benefits. And then the cons gripe about upper income people having to finance welfare because these same elites are making money off of slave labor. lol You really do need to allow the elites to fu*k as many average americans as they can, or it just isn't fair. lol
A new battle rifle? Germany is the 3rd largest weapon manufactuerer in the world. Our rifles are worldclass and sold to many countries in the world. If we arm our troops with american weapons: 1) Our renomee would sink. Who buys from a country that doesnt use its own products? 2) It would counter act our security, we would become dependend in a very sensitive area And thats exactly the point, why buy something that can be made better here? Its also doubtful an american company could fullfill the contract. Can it offer 24/4 german speaking support? Would it adjust its product 100% to our demands? When we look at bigger things like an aircraft carrier, that would be an possibility, but again, are you willing to give 100% detaileld plans? Adjust the design to evry demand our navy has? Would you change the designs according to our specific wishs and let it party be build in Germany?
And my point was if german parts are always superior as you claim why would the german army to be ordered to use german parts only? Would they not prefer the best parts without being told? I think there is no difference into the quality Which means the ban on American parts was political rather than technical
And here you were so happy with your tax cuts. We could have made it much easier and just given the money to the oil companies. That sounds good until you look at what has changed since the good old days. Remember when 70% of the people worked on a farm making food? Now the government subsidizes the few percent that do so. What happened - automation, not imports. Remember when we had all those manufacturing jobs? The US did indeed lose about 5.6m manufacturing jobs between 2000 and 2010. But according to a study by the Center for Business and Economic Research at Ball State University, 85 per cent of these jobs losses are actually attributable to technological change largely automation rather than international trade. The think-tank found that although there has been a steep decline in factory jobs, the manufacturing sector has become more productive and industrial output has been growing. Simply put, we are producing more with fewer people, notes Mireya Solïs, a senior fellow at Brookings. Sorry, it just doesn't work anymore. It is however a big problem. We are automating waitresses, burger flippers, and truck drivers. We should be trying to figure out what to do in the new world instead of trying to force ourselves back into the old.
When Ukraine wants order rifles why would they still order German if our own army doesnt use our own product? It would be like Burger King selling McDonalds
I never said I was happy or not about tax cuts. I am retired so they hardly affect me. If making what one consumes does not work anymore, then we have much larger problems at hand. Given that people in capitalist nations cannot eat or house themselves unless they provide goods and services by their labor to others, and if these jobs no longer exist, then we are in deep shi*. When AI replaces the brains, even deeper shi*. Looks to me like there is an economic apocalypse in our future and everyone is whistling past the grave yard. Unless of course we can find a way for people to earn money in order to survive, that does not require supplying goods or services to a population. What else is there, besides goods and services? lol You remove the human element and turn it over to robotics and AI, how do people acquire the money to survive? And where does the money come from to buy what AI and robots provide? Until that happens, we should make what we consume using our own people. And try to figure out how people will survive once AI and robots replace humans. So far, no one has a clue. Oh, I am not buying the Ball study you mentioned. Every factory we lost in my state went to slave labor not damned robots and automation. Jobs losses should be figured by how many chinese and mexicans, and others, now have american jobs. And the job losses go back before the year 2000.
