I am pretty sure no one would take the last seat in such circumstances (in my country) but if someone did I can understand the owner would be upset. However, if asked to give the table over there would be no fuss about it. But then anything resembling my description in post #247 would not be exhibited so even if they did not vacate the table there would be no aggression, just an apology from the owner to the guest who will have to share a table with someone else. But seriously, it would never go that far.

From your article: A Starbuck’s employees told the responding officers that the two men had asked to use the restroom, Ross said. Employees said they told the pair that the restroom was only for paying customers and asked them to leave, and the pair allegedly refused. The men allegedly told the employees to go ahead and call the police.

According to Ross, police “politely” asked the pair to leave several times and they continued to refuse and behaved rudely toward the officers. The officers, he said, did everything right.

So they didn’t want to order anything but expected access to the bathroom. When then asked to leave, perfectly within the manager’s rights at this point, they refused, and then continued to refuse after the police show up. Yes, that’s trespassing, and they should be thankful they decided not to press charges.

I’m white, and I’ve been refused entry into a restaurant bathroom because I didn’t order something. However, I just ordered something small and made no trouble about it. They didn’t feel a need to ask me to leave because I respected their policy. That’s the real difference here—not race.

    From the same source:

"In a trespass action, the plaintiff does not have to show that the defendant intended to trespass but only that she intended to do whatever caused the trespass. It is no excuse that the trespasser mistakenly believed that she was not doing wrong or that she did not understand the wrong. A child can be a trespasser, as can a person who thought that she was on her own land."

"Every unlawful entry onto another's property is trespass, even if no harm is done to the property."

The manager's days may well be numbered. If so, that will be the injustice wrought in this case. The SJW's are just out to shake down a business. I suspect this is a set up.

Black Privilege stipulates that black people are not bound by the rules of polite society or the laws of the land. With blessings from the sanctimonious, virtue signaling left, they may violently resist arrest and expect no reaction, they may trespass and expect no response, they may be racist and expect no reciprocation.

While we are on the subject …. is it true that in the US staff members of a store will get angry if you walk in with a shopping bag from a competitor’s store?

If this is indeed true, that they weren’t first told they had to order something otherwise they had to leave, then shame on the employees for calling the cops. The employees needed to give these guys the chance to order something. If they then refused to, then they can be asked to leave. If they refuse to leave, now the employees are within their right to call the cops. Afterall, Starbucks is a place of business not a place to loiter. Seems this entire situation could have been handled much better than it was.

I’ve never experienced that. In fact, there have been times when I’ve purchased something and put it in the bag from the other store since I didn’t want to walk around with multiple bags.

lol. Even though you've been told over and over and over and over what "rightwings" think, you will never get it because you don't listen and it's not what you want to hear.

As to your comment above, which I've copied here:

Go troll somewhere else. I'm familiar with your post history.

I'm pretty sure who the troll is.

Yes. It's all about public relations.

The real question is why did those guys push the issue? They, for some reason, wanted to create a controversy. We are stupidly giving them the attention they appear to want. This might be the biggest non-issue that I've seen.

This appears to be more about the restroom use than just waiting inside. I go to different Starbucks stores and some have different policies toward restroom use. Some have a keycode box on the door and they won't give out the code without first buying something.

One of those stores had an opiod addict nearly die in their restroom. Another store had a worker jab herself with a used needle when all she was doing was emptying the wastebasket.

It's pretty easy to go with the program. Just buy something, then go use the restroom. I'm getting the idea that those jokers just wanted to be Social Justice Warrior heroes.

Common sense and courtesy. A little of that, and this wouldn't have happened.

Just like you've assumed this would not have happened if these were white people. That's only an assumption on your part. These men were asked to leave, they refused. Case closed.

You can't just hang out at Starbucks soaking up WiFi eating a table. They were asked to buy something or bounce. They refused to do either. Cops were called to remove them. That's how **** works.this is stupid.

Your post claiming that it is about mainly restroom use contradicts multiple press reports and quotes from people who were there. It also contradicts statements from Starbucks company management.

Starbucks serves food too, so it is a cafe style place where people (paying customers) want to sit down to eat and drink.

What's your point? I think you probably read everything I've written on the subject and we are down to what constitutes a restaurant. Starbucks is not a restaurant. Lots of non-restaurants serve food:

Ok then, so to be clear, you think business owners should allow non paying customers to occupy tables at their establishment and not allowed to say anything. If they lose paying customers because there is no place for them to sit, so be it. They'll just have to go out of business. Can't dare be called racist.

True, But they want you to buy something too. If you come in day after day at some point the manager is going to say something if you’re taking up a lot of space and just sucking up the WiFi downloading torrents. Saw a guy doing that he other day. Had to kill hrs waiting for a play date to end and watched a stereotypical geek sit there in one of the good seats the whole time, eating his own food and DLing movies while he munched away. Probably spends his whole Sat there every weekend
