Moronic comment unless you think a doctorate in medicine is a "liberal" value. Or a computer science degree is all about "liberal" ethics (although it is interesting that the richest people in America tend to be more liberal). UC Davis is a "liberal" school, yet turns out many of the world's best veterinarians.

The problem isn't that universities are all "liberal" it's that some of the conservatives here post crap without thinking it through.

What are left wing ideas and values being taught in Economics courses? How about Nursing courses? Business administration? Mathematics? Computer science? Biology? Chemistry? Criminal justice? Industrial technology? Exercise and sports science?

So now you are saying that taxpayer funded colleges should all be progressive indoctrination centers. Fascinating.

Moronic reply on your part. Or are you arguing that conservatives have never held the purse strings at any level of government?

We already have an engineering shortage. If you don't allow conservatives into colleges, we will have no engineers.

Like the strawman you created, though. I'm a conservative, and I believe in liberal arts education (meaning a classical education in which a student learns in a variety of fields). I will admit, it's hard for students to be principled outspoken conservatives, without being bullied by professors. My oldest son is a freshman in engineering, and in his non-technical classes he's often picked on by professors. Admittedly, it hasn't effected his grades.

You flat out admitted your argument is your opinion.
And you said opinion's can't be wrong.
But I said if you had the opinion the earth is flat, your opinion is wrong.

And you have furnished no evidence that college graduates are not educated. 1.9M graduate/year. In science, math, engineering, business, etc. But they are not educated according to your opinion.

Why would anyone teach such concepts as a flat earth?
That whale oil should be the power generating substance of the earth?
That some people should be hated for being different than the normal of society because they are not the norm of society? What kind of ideas and values are those? Besides outdated and hateful.

No one should be picked on for one's ideas.
If one is in an anthropology class and refutes a discovery because the bible says otherwise, well, again shouldn't be picked on, but shouldn't be taken seriously either.

    This made me laugh...

I have a relative who is a professor at Tufts University. He is a mover and shaker in one of their best science departments.
And while he doesn't wear his politics on his sleeve, he is as Conservative as I am.

He has told me that there are far more Conservative professors in the sciences than most people realize.

Don't you think we'd all be better off if society encouraged a more even political distribution in colleges as opposed to making it more polarized though? I guess what I'm saying is that I'm not sure encouraging already liberal colleges to become more liberal will foster the better good of all people.

The name of this subforum is "Political Opinions & Beliefs." I did not state "my argument is my opinion" as you errantly claim. I posted an argument in support of my opinion -- you just chose to ignore it.

Lie. I said they can't be false. Now why have you made the word opinion a possessive above? What does it possess? Or are you having some trouble with English grammar? As a college-educated professional, maybe I can help.

And I told you your straw man was dangerously close to igniting your whole neighborhood. Your facile attempt to conflate a scientific fact with a matter of opinion is amusing to say the least.

As I already stated, you simply chose to ignore my argument and instead attempted to discredit me through your typical feeble ad hominem fallacy.

In a response to me about whether college kids are educated this is what you said.
You have yet to post an argument that college kids are not educated. This is your claim, college grads are not educated.

You are free to express your opinion. I am free to show your opinion is wrong.
I did so with circumstantial evidence. Such as 1.9M graduates/yr, approx. That the top 10 degrees sought are in Eng, Business, Science, etc.
To claim college graduates are not educated seems very very very far fetched.

But I also asked you for proof of your opinion, now more than 1/2 dozen times. I have not seen this argument. So I don't believe your opinion.

It was routine for decades for many major universities to hand out "gentlemen's C's" to students who did nothing to earn them.

I've heard since I graduated in 1988 that "gentlemen's A's" are not uncommon.

Ok, I'll ask... So your contention is that the folks who attend those damn liberal arts schools are destined to walk past the yachts? I may tend to agree with you here.....

I was at the University of California starting in 1981 and never heard of any such bull crap. And certainly not as "routine". I did have a number of class-mates who had to drop classes or retake them.

Spielberg is a graduate of one of those damn liberal arts colleges, as is George Lucas, Francis Coppola, and numerous other very successful, very wealthy film makers. Ron Howard is also a graduate of one of those damn liberal arts schools, his yacht is occasionally parked right behind Spielbergs' Seven Seas ...

Instead of engaging me in substantive debate and refuting my position, you immediately deployed the ad hominem fallacy and have been playing patty-cake from that point forward.

As I see it, there are far fewer PC gatekeepers in those areas. You either have the intelligence/aptitude or you don't.

There is a vast difference between education and indoctrination. The latter passes as the former far too often on today's typical campus.

What type of classes is the indoctrination taking place? I assume you know since you seem to just 'know' things.
