How will this play with voters? Will talking like a socialist help them? How significant is it that ABC actually identified them as 'far left'?
"In this moment in American history, our job together is to stand up. It is to fight back," America's commies are 'fighting' for a government that will rob Peter to pay them. That's it. it's no more complicated than that.
When I read reports like the one in the OP, I am reminded how grateful I am that I grew up in a time when hard work, individual sacrifice, and the freedom to become all one can be, was the overriding message being given to citizens. Amazing how far people have come, when the words of a Democrat from that time (Ask not what the country can do for you......) have been replaced with words of Democrats of this time that are the polar opposite.
Medicare for all is an unbelievably popular policy and Sanders is the most popular politician in America. Bernie is right, going left is a winning strategy
It seems to work with small population, well educated homogenous societies. Not so much for the rest.
Would I be willing to live under socialism in a country like Norway? Perhaps and quite possible. At least I'd know that my tax money would be better spent and a small, homogenous population better ensures this would happen.
Norway isn't socialism, it's capitalism with a lot of welfare. Socialism is incompatible with the value-form
Once upon a time, it was impossible to imagine a world without the divine right of kings. Every system seems inescapable from the inside.
Point taken, however said political system must be feasible. Feudalism was a successful form of government for the time, that is till the Black Death called into question the power of religion and right of royalty.
Like where? I mean where does it NOT work, And by not work I mean like ours doesn't, where we pay the highest prices and get the worst services http://www.newsweek.com/united-states-health-care-rated-worst-637114 Great Britain, France, Canada, they don't strike me as small or homogenous and they've had functioning SINGLE PAYER systems for decades.
Of course it was. History was already replete with other forms of social organization when the divine right of kings was invented. It was invented, in fact, to improve the previous forms of governance.
Interesting that both Norway and Venezuela are relatively small countries who's economies are heavily reliant on petroleum revenues.
