Not all ugly people are liberals, and not all beautiful people are conservative, but there seems to me a conspicuous correlation in that direction. I suspect it has to do with the easier time ("privilege", if you must) that beautiful people have in "making it" in terms of career success and consequent wealth and comfort. It's the same on every continent. Once the beautiful people realize they've got an edge, their interest in any kind of revolution diminishes to about zero. The ugly get marginalized socially, which makes them frustrated and angry and more likely to resent prevailing values that reward the beautiful. So, here come trans rights and anti-fat shaming parades and shouting down conservative speakers on campus. I have no agenda in this ... I am average looking and my politics skew pretty average, conservative to libertarian, but I don't get all angry at the wall and abortion and tax policy. If I looked like Fabio, I'd be more conservative. Fabio is conservative, by the way.
And yes, I know there are exceptions, but honestly, what are the chances that Rosie O'Donnell and Kathy Griffin would be conservative?
If you are talking about just women, I think the key is marriageability. Marriageable women...get married and since we know that married women (at least white women) are more likely to lean right than unmarried women, that's where you get the split, since physical attractiveness is an aspect of being marriageable. Obviously it's not a perfect correlation (insert multiple Hollywood examples here), but if you are noticing a difference, that may be why.
There is neither correlation nor causation between physical appearence and political affiliation. Claiming there is one is nothing but anti-intellecftual drivel.
Claiming there isn't is being in denial. I have also noticed that in past 30 years HollyHood had stop staring attractive people and now lean toward the plainer or at best average women and less masculine men.
This is simply pseudo-intellectual hogwash. The only established connection between individual variation and political affiliation is one of personality and politics. Although not even that is entirely causal and only points at a general pattern.
Sometimes facts are hogwash, but it is my facts and I have as much a right to mine as you do yours, if you even have any facts.
I look average and my politics are moderate, which buttresses my point. I think I already said that. But here's the science for you: Hot people are more likely to support right-wing parties because they are stronger and more successful than their more liberal peers, apparently. That's according to a study carried out by Rolfe Daus Peterson, a political scholar from Susquehanna University and Carl Palmar, assistant professor in politics at Illinois State University. The researchers claim that never before has the effects of physical attractiveness on politics been examined on this level and that there is "good reason to believe that individuals’ physical attractiveness may alter their political values and worldviews". They said that their findings prove attractive people tend to lean towards the right because they have better social skills and are more popular, competent and intelligent due to the "halo effect" - an idea that bias and stereotypes influence the way people judge others. https://www.indy100.com/article/con...tter-rolfe-daus-peterson-carl-palmaer-8181196 I actually figured all this out before I saw the study because I am fairly smart and very observant. But any dumbbell, if he's honest, will know and admit this. Successful people -- in business, romance, music, sports, you name it -- have no interest in seeing the political and legal order overturned. They know the world is their oyster and like it as it is.
You can look at the extremes on each side and easily find a correlation between looks and politics. 1. Guy in a camo hat rocking an American flag shirt might be pretty far right 2. A girl with pink dyed hair, thick glasses, and doesn't care about appearances...probably a far lefty. You know how you can easily figure this out? Look at pictures from the women's march to see the lefties. Then go down to a hunting lodge to see the righties.
