What Ann Richards said about George W. Bush applies equally well to Donald Trump: "He was born with a silver foot in his mouth."

And Trump — as his West Wing staff begins to hollow and out and his fascination with the techniques and personalities of global autocracy grows — appears intent on expanding the scope of his own power.

He was so confident he even let reporters in on his secret in Singapore when he said that he believed Kim would follow through on vague commitments to denuclearize but would just change his story if the North Korean leader fell short.

"I may stand before you in six months and say, 'Hey, I was wrong.' I don't know that I'll ever admit that, but I'll find some kind of an excuse," Trump said.

. . . . And how can his deluded perception of reality possibly lend credibility to his paranoid conspiracy theories???. . . . Examples:

All politicians paint a version of reality that can inspire and motivate their followers. But few have gone as far as Trump in creating a different dimension that blurs established fact, defies accountability and knocks the rest of politics off its axis.

Trump constructed a world in which an inspector general's report from the Justice Department cleared him of collusion and invalidated Robert Mueller's investigation — it did not.

He claimed he had lifted the North Korean nuclear threat — he did not — and Pyongyang has so far done nothing after the summit to destroy its nuclear and missile program.

Trump claimed there were hugs and kisses at the end of the G7 summit — in fact multiple diplomatic sources have described the meeting as the most acrimonious in the modern history of the West.

The President insisted that a law passed by Democrats required the separation of children from their parents when undocumented families cross the southern border. That is not correct.

Just a thought, for those who believe:

. . . . The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness" (2 Thes. 2:3-11).

Straight from Trump's playbook. Did you get this off the Donald J. Trump website? But, you answered my question.

Despite all the lies and gross exaggerations as described in my article, you still believe all of Trump's rhetoric. That is truly amazing. Hard to believe the gullibility of members of his base. You didn't question a single statement in my article, yet you still believe him. Incredible.

This thread has a purpose, and I will not be distracted. Start a new thread and provide all the "accomplishments" you got from a Trump-friendly source, and I will be happy to deal with each one of them ... when I have the time.

You know they talk about this impeachement garbage, let them do it, because Trump's reelection will be even sweeter. The GOP did it with Bill Clinton and he was easily reelected.

Pretty sure talk of impeaching Bill was only in his second term. Lewinski didn't even come to light until 1998, and Bill had done nothing anywhere near as bad as Trump has done on a regular basis. Neither did we have the utterly contemptible and ridiculous extreme & alt right movement that we see today. Republicans had not yet completely lost their minds during the Clinton years.

Since your first sentence response is 100% wrong even though you are responding to very clear and simple words -- "Not that he is in the least, but when did incompetence and/or naivety become an impeachable offense in your mind?" -- I chose not to waste my time reading the rest of your post.

If a person elected president was impeached for being incompetent, Obama would have been impeached his first month in office.

There is something seriously wrong when the President of the United State, Republican lawmakers, and a major cable network is attacking the FBI, a proud, competent, and effective law enforcement agency that other nations could only dream about when it comes professionalism and efficacy. The President should be an admirer of this organization. Instead, he is the lead antagonist.

Trump's antagonism, along with that of Republican Senators and representatives and Fox News is based entirely on an arrogant FBI director and five agents facing administration review and likely termination. The former is one James Comey whose actions the I.G. described as "extraordinary and insubordinate." Comey was fired over a year ago by Trump because of the Russian investigation he was conducting. One of the five agents is Peter Strzok who was removed by Mueller from his post a year ago. There are 35,000 agents in the FBI.

Trump, Republicans, and Fox are still talking about Comey and the lovesick agent, Strzok. They are attacking the FBI based largely on the actions of these agents. The obsession borders on paranoia.

Yesterday, Trump held an impromptu question-and-answer session after appearing on Fox & Friends, the reverently pro-Trump morning show which conducted its broadcast from the North Lawn of the White House. Trump said the report had shown the FBI was biased against him “at the top level” and was “plotting against my election." He added: “I’m actually proud because I beat the Clinton dynasty, I beat the Bush dynasty. Now, I guess, hopefully I’m in the process of beating very dishonest intelligence (meaning FBI). I have the real FBI. Not the scum on top, not Comey and that group of people.”

Trump seems to have forgotten that he fired Comey over a year ago. The "scum on top" would include Republican Chris Wray who Trump appointed as his FBI director. Wray assumed the duties of director nine months ago.

Trump's son and his lawyer were on Fox News, setting up the Trump's narrative. Donald Trump Jr. said the FBI’s “credibility is shot,” and Rudy Giuliani said the IG report could “blow up” Robert Mueller’s investigation by tarnishing FBI officials and key witnesses.

Multiple Republican lawmakers argued that Strzok’s involvement in the early days of the Trump-Russia investigation, and the few weeks he spent on Mueller’s team, call the whole operation into question. Majority Whip Steve Scalise said the latest “evidence of bias” gives “credence to people who wonder if this is becoming a witch hunt.” Representative Mark Meadows declared “the Mueller investigation must be reassessed in light of today’s information.” Other Republicans joining this looney tunes debacle would include Mark Gaetz, Andy Biggs, John Ratcliffe, and, of course, Trump's loyal lapdog, Devin Nunes.

    http://nymag.com/daily/intelligence...ler-exit-over-report-that-isnt-about-him.html

In a way what makes this worse is why these politicians want to destroy the effectiveness of the FBI. For the most part, politicians do exactly what their constituents want them to do. In this case the constituents would include approximately 60 to 65 million Americans who want the FBI destroyed along with the investigation by the special prosecutor. In a recent poll, voters were asked if the FBI was biased against the Trump administration. 31% said yes.

Why do 31% of American voters, approximately 60 to 65 million Americans, want to destroy the preeminent law enforcement agency in our country? There are two possible answers.

They are anarchists and they support Trump.

They want chaos at the highest levels of our government. It is why they voted for Trump in the first place, and they support Trump today.

There is something very wrong in our land, very wrong, indeed.

You are still talking about the election? Jeez, that was 18 months ago. In a way I don't blame you. You are a Trump fan. As the OP strongly indicates, his election victory is about the only thing he has going. Trump can't stop talking about it, either.

A federal judge revoked Paul Manafort’s bail and sent him to jail on Friday to await trial, citing new charges that Manafort had tried to influence the testimony of two government witnesses after he had been granted a temporary release.

Trump waded in and couldn't stop lying about Manafort. Trump probably no longer knows the difference between truth and fiction, and he shows remarkable ignorance where Manafort is concerned. Of course, we don't know where is outright lying ends and his ignorance begins. That is always a problem with Trump.

    First, he tweets:

    Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

Wow, what a tough sentence for Paul Manafort, who has represented Ronald Reagan, Bob Dole and many other top political people and campaigns. Didn’t know Manafort was the head of the Mob. What about Comey and Crooked Hillary and all of the others? Very unfair!

    10:41 AM - Jun 15, 2018

Manafort has not been sentenced yet. He hasn't even gone to trial. The "head of the mob" part is clear fiction. What does Comey and Crooked Hillary have to do with Manafort? No one knows. Not even Trump. What's unfair? Trump doesn't say, but Manafort broke the law while out on bail. That is why he is going to jail. Apparently, breaking the law doesn't mean a thing to Trump.

“Manafort has nothing to do with our campaign,” Trump said. Among his many problems, Trump has difficulty with the queen's English and the difference between past tense and present tense. Manafort had been Trump's campaign manager during the 2016 election campaign. I guess Trump forgot. Was his remark lying or a result of ignorance? Who knows?

“He worked for Ronald Reagan, he worked for Bob Dole, he worked for John McCain or his firm did. He worked for many other Republicans. He worked for me for what? For 49 days or something? A very short period of time,” Trump said.

Manafort was a part of Trump's campaign for five months. He was Trump's campaign manager for three months. Manafort was responsible for organizing the Republican Convention and lining up the delegates for Trump.

Trump lies to so much he no longer can see the difference between reality and fantasy. Much like many members of his base, Trump ignores reality and invents his own reality. Others call it fantasy.

Combined with many of his other faults, which include his dangerous foreign, economic, and domestic policies, are these grounds for impeachment? Of course, they are. We can't have a President who can't tell the difference between reality and fantasy or one who thinks the Presidency is a joke.

Given the ever improving state of the economy, I want some more of the extreme incompetence and naiveté from President Trump. I wonder if it could get any better if he knew what he was doing.

Trump has had nothing to do with the economy. If anything, he is trying to ruin it with his tariffs. He has started a trade war with China. Soon a trade war with Canada, Mexico, and the 28 countries of the EU will begin. Quit being a Trump stooge. Look around, see what is happening. Did you even read the OP?

    Quit being an ostrich.

"Trump has had nothing to do with the economy. "

That statement is ostrich feathers! The economy was dead in the water until Trump was elected President in November, 2016 and then it started to take off.

Why the economy took off at that time was because investors felt good for two reasons - Obama was gone and a real businessman was elected to become President. President Trumps focus has been to Make America Great Again and he is succeeding beyond everyones wildest expectations.

Ostrich's are the deviants seeing "crumbs" in a tax break and praising murderous MS-13 scum as though they were saints. Ostirch's can't see that the working American family has been struggling for decades to find decent jobs at decent pay, they have been marginalized by politicians who ignore them until election time - the working American family see's a savior in President Trump.

Take a look at Europe - at Hungary, Czech R, Austria and Italy and see how the populist agenda is on the rise in spite of despotic rules of the EU and certain member nations. President Trump is their icon - they follow his every move and take it one step beyond.

Merkel has one foot on a banana peel and the other foot out the door and Macron is close behind her - and Trudeau is a laughing stock - but the ostrich's locve these people while badmouthing President Trump.

Take a look at Kanye West and Diamond and Silk and at the ever increasing number of black men who are starting to look to President Trump as their man.

Your willful ignorance is keeping you from the truth.

Then you agree that he deserved to be fired.

That doesn't sound rational, Sandy. :blankstare:

If you look back on the issues he ran on, he has followed through on them. He has met opposition on some of them and not (yet) been successful. But he has tried, consistent with his campaign promises.

Your post explicitly asked us why we believe him. I answered you. He kept more promises in the first year than Obama kept his entire time here.

It’s not my fault you don’t like the truth.
