Child Separation "Issue" Is Democrat Scam

It is right wring fascism rearing it's ugly head defended by Jeff Sessions using biblical quotes that were used to justify slavery.

 

There is "taking children into protective custody" and there is "abusive separation of children from parents". Just think of it. A couple of days ago Sessions and Trump were saying that taking children from parents was the "penalty" parents paid for entering illegally. Zero concern there for the punishment and abuse of the children. It was said as though the children were just some kind of property that was forfeited. After this was pointed out to them they had to think of a new explanation.

You jump to conclusions. Just saying "taking children from parents was the "penalty" parents paid for entering illegally", does not = Zero concern. Because one does their job, as the law requires, doesn't mean they don't have concern.

The Department of Health and Human Services hosted Breitbart News and other media on a tour of a facility in El Cajon, California, on Friday where migrant children are being sheltered after being separated from their parents. The facility at El Cajon, however, is not a “cage.” as was during the Obama years. It is now, a comfortable facility providing lodging, meals, clothing, medical care, education, recreation, counseling, and other services.



It is run by a nonprofit organization called Southwest Key as part of the Department of Health and Human Services’ Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) Program, run by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) in the Administration for Children and Familes (ACF).

The facility is located on a main street in a quiet, suburban neighborhood. It has 65 beds, occupied by boys ages 6 to 17. The rooms are spare, with three to four beds in each; the boys are responsible for cleaning the rooms and making their own beds. There is an outdoor recreation area with picnic tables and a small soccer pitch. There is a classroom area, and English lessons. The goal is “reunification”: letting each child depart with a legal guardian.

When the children arrive — usually brought by U.S. Border Patrol agents — they are greeted in the “intake” office, where they receive any urgent medical care, are assigned a case worker, and are given food, a shower, and new clothing. They are also given toiletries and lessons in hygiene — literally how to flush a toilet, brush their teeth, and operate the shower, which some of the children may have never seen in their lives.

The kids have limited access to telephones to call relatives, both in the U.S. and abroad. They receive therapy, both as individuals and in group sessions. They enjoy field trips to local museums, parks, and the zoo, where they can explore the city beyond the shelter. And they also have social activities, including a recent “prom” for which they dressed up.

The real scandal is how the media have portrayed the shelters. When MSNBC’s Jacob Soboroff toured a similar facility this week in Brownsville, Texas, for example, he referred to the children there as being “incarcerated,” which is only true in the same sense that hospital patients, too, are not permitted to leave, for their safety.

Southwest Key has operated its facilities — 27 in total, across California, Arizona, and Texas — since 1997, when the U.S. Supreme Court decided in Flores v. Reno that unaccompanied illegal alien minors could not be held in detention facilities. This is not a new problem, even though it took Trump to make the media realize it existed.

I don't know who you're trying to fool, but yes, the government is scrambling to set these facilities up wherever and however they can now. This isn't a secret, and it isn't spin either.

Trump has used the MS-13 dog whistle consistantly since the very beginning.

 

It's still the fault of conservatives. You guys are the ones who want to lock people up for victimless crimes, and you're the reason America has the highest incarceration rate in the world.

Dont come here and violate our laws. You will not be in a detention center or separated from your children. If you do come here and violate our laws, then that onus is on the parent who decided to become a criminal....as usual the left refuses to blame the people that actually are causing the problem and instead blame everything else.

MSNBC Analysts: Trump is Creating ‘Concentration Camps’ for Immigrant Children.....

On Friday’s “MSNBC Live with Stephanie Ruhle,” former Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele and former Obama 2012 deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter compared the Trump administration’s detention centers for illegal immigrant children to Nazi concentration camps. Steele also ominously warned viewers that their “kids could be next” to be placed in such concentration camps.

Obama administration tried to keep ‘quiet’ how many children illegally crossed border....


Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, said the Obama administration attempted to keep “quiet” about how many unaccompanied minors were crossing the border and that children were being held in detention centers.

“There were large numbers of people coming in,” Cuellar said in an interview with CNN on Saturday. “The Obama administration was trying to keep this quiet.”

According to the Washington Post, nearly 70,000 unaccompanied minors were apprehended at the border in 2014.

DHS officials verified Friday that 1,995 minors were taken away from accompanying adults while attempting to enter the U.S. between ports of entry between April 19 and May 31.

Minors who are split from their families as a result of the zero-tolerance policy will be housed by Health and Human Services.
But Cuellar pointed out that not all children crossing the border are being separated because some come alone.

“It’s not a matter that every single child we have in those centers are being separated because some of them are coming in alone,” Cuellar said.

He also pointed to immigrants bringing children across the border who are not their blood relatives in order to take advantage of U.S. immigration loopholes, which have since been rectified by Trump's zero-tolerance policy.

Hmm, I think you and the OP have it on something here. Using the issue to score political points and attempt to rack up votes. Sure, even if the policy was started under Obama and the holding areas built under him. That's politics. Remember those older Democrats who was around to defend Bill Clinton to the hilt were willing to throw him under the bus if it mean the Dems could score political point on Stormy Davis and Trump. Pure politics.

No arrest if illegals are caught and they are with children, that is what it boils down to. If those illegals really wanted to keep their family together, then don't cross the border illegally. It's their decision.
