It has been obvious to some observers for months that the President of the United States is acting in the best interests of the Kremlin and admires the communist dictator, Vladimir Putin. Perhaps, it is due to the fact that Putin assisted Trump in his election success.

Today the Senate Intelligence Committee substantiated the conclusion it reached in May. Fox News reports, "Findings by the intelligence community that Russia meddled in the 2016 presidential election to help Donald Trump win were "accurate and on point," according to an unclassified report and accompanying statement by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence released Tuesday."

“The committee has spent the last 16 months reviewing the sources, tradecraft and analytic work underpinning the intelligence community assessment and sees no reason to dispute the conclusions,” Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr, R-N.C. said.

Despite the earlier May report from the committee that reached an identical conclusion, Trump insisted in late June that Moscow was innocent. “Russia continues to say they had nothing to do with Meddling in our Election!” Trump tweeted.

Then a serious split between the U.S. and its allies began when Trump imposed steep tariffs on steel and aluminum on three of America's biggest trading partners — Canada, Mexico and the European Union.

The trade penalties, 25% on imported steel and 10% on imported aluminum, took effect at midnight, May 31. Our friends and trading partners immediately announced plans to retaliate with their own tariffs against American products.

All this came to a head at the G-7 summit in early June where Trump was persona non grata, arriving late and leaving early. A war of words erupted between the US and its G7 allies at the end of a tense summit. Trump tweeted, "PM Justin Trudeau of Canada acted so meek and mild during our @G7 meetings only to give a news conference after I left saying that, 'US Tariffs were kind of insulting' and he 'will not be pushed around.' Very dishonest & weak."

Canada, for chissakes! The split between the U.S. and its allies was complete.

Today the trade war started by Trump's tariffs is as bad as ever, and the stock market is in decline. American companies like Harley Davidson are moving some manufacturing overseas to avoid the tariffs. Congress, which Constitutionally controls revenue, taxation, and expenditures, is doing nothing.

On July 11 and 12, NATO members will come together for their first summit since meeting in Warsaw in 2016. Trump sent letters to the leaders of NATO allies, including Germany, Belgium, Norway and Canada, demanding that they increase their defense spending and threatened to alter the US global military presence if they do not.

The New Times reports, "The letters, sent in June, are the latest sign of acrimony between Mr. Trump and American allies as he heads to a NATO summit meeting next week in Brussels that will be a closely watched test of the president’s commitment to the alliance. Mr. Trump has repeatedly questioned its value and has claimed that its members are taking advantage of the United States."

Trump is right when he says the NATO joint commitments to our collective defense must evolve, but doing so without a vision of transformation is poor leadership and creates a weakness for everyone -- the sole exception being Russia.

NATO is a sword pointed directly at Moscow. No doubt Putin is quite pleased with all this infighting.

So are Trump's fans. They seemed thrilled when Trump foregoes diplomacy and uses threats against our friends and allies.

On the other hand, Putin used aggression in the taking of Crimea, supports the murderous dictator in Syria, and is Iran's major weapons supplier.

Trump's fans do not seem to be the least bit disturbed that Trump does not use the same methods against a hostile foreign power that interfered in our election. Instead, Trump appears to be cooperating with the Kremlin and his fans don't mind at all.

We can all agree with this statement. No doubt Putin is very pleased with Trump's performance.

Do you guys think bringing up Russia/Trump collusion wins you more public support or less public support?

Or is it more of a "pump up the base" type of thing?

Once again, Trump fans cannot deal with the vital issues. They make wisecracks. I said it in the article, and they proved it to be true.

So are Trump's fans. They seemed thrilled when Trump foregoes diplomacy and uses threats against our friends and allies.

    It's honesty a serious question.

I don't really hear any clients, friends, family or even anyone on the internet talk about it unless they are a Leftist/Progressive.

Just honestly curious if they see this as a winning issue for gaining support, or if it is more to pump up the base type of thing.

It might be that different people have different ideas of which are vital issues.

For my part, I think that this constant haranguing, about Russia, is a clown show.

I don't see a problem with a reset button. Better than the button to blow up our electoral system for free that Trump gave him..

This would be funny if you weren't so serious. I understnd that you don't get it because yopu don't want to get it - but I'll try again to explain this to you in simple terms:

Presidents Trumps policies are built on a foundation of two simple principals:
    1. Self interests
    2. Common self interests.

A good example of the Trump approach would be that he is trying to settle issues with Iran and NK.
Russia is allying with these two countries and harming Trumps efforts to bring the two rogue states to heel.
Trump sets up a summit - one of the primary items on the agenda will be what can we do to get Russia to back off from Iran and NK

The problem I think Sandy has is that he see's any interactions with Russia as monolithic while the oposite is true. We can ally with Russia in those areas where the two countries share a common interest - where there is a convergence - and we can ignore those areas where the interests of both countries diverge without conflict.

You should recognize that President Trumps present thinking is that many of these nations have been screwing the US and the American working families for years - it's time to level the playing field.

Your biggest failure is not recognizing that President Trumps middle name is "Let's make a deal" - and he wrote the book.

Dude that wasn't a vital issue it was a damn half baked fantasy. that you believe that horse crap assuming even you really believe it, is no reason rational human beings should. And doubling down on it with your response doesn't make it more believable.

Thank you. That is all they can do. Trump fans lack the ability to question what a writer says. So, they tear into the writer, instead.

One thing I have noticed about Trump's fans. They are smart enough to realize that it would be foolish to use Trump's statements to defend Trump.

They rarely, if ever, do that. 8)
