Pulling this from another thread as I think it needs to be a standalone topic All Please DON'T dance around my question nor deflect - No matter how hard it may be. "SO for sake of argument, lets just suppose that Obama was in fact of Kenyan birth. Would that make everything he signed and ordered null and void, including his two SC appointments?" Not arguing if he is or isn't, that's been beat into the ground, and isn't the purpose of this thread but just suppose he isn't. And please explain your response versus just a simple Yes or No. Moderator Edit/title
It’s funny....conservatives are always accusing those who don’t support Trump as having TDS. Seems these birthers have ODS.
While we are at it, let's suppose George Bush is a shapeshifting lizard man, are any of his policies legitimate?
Post #2 is correct but he didn't understand the intent of your post. Perhaps if you had said if he was ineligible to be president. That being said I think we would be in a Constitutional crisis like we have never seen.
Coincidentally, that pressing question is on my list, right after "What if Eleanor Roosevelt had been able to fly?" and just before the one about Obama and Kenya. Did you hear this one? Odo walks down the street, and turns into a bar ...
Not a question of being a citizen but of NOT being Native born and is ineligible. Sure you know this as this is the crux of the matter so don't try to sidetrack the question.
I don't think those of us on this board would be making the decision. It would probably go to the SCOTUS.
No, all of his policies would stand. It would be impossible to reverse them. It wouldn't even reach the level of constitutional crisis. We would have an "oh shucks" moment and keep going on as if it didn't happen. That's about all we can do. The amount of time it would take to remove all his judges, retry all the cases they ever ruled on, reverse every EO and law he signed and try and fix all the repercussions from those would literally be impossible. You would instantly have hundreds of thousands of lawsuits filed the second you tried to do that. Therefore everything he did would stand. And the good news is that he was such an ineffective president to begin with that he really didn't do that much damage. Pretty much everything he did do, Trump has already reversed.
Pre Post 7 Lets see FIVE responses of which one, BarleyPopGuy, actually answered the question. One, after all this time, is willfully ignorant on what the birth qualifications to be President of the US are and the Two more whom are thread BS artists who either don't comprehend the total posting or dance around the question.
imo it would be most unpalatable to try to time travel back into the past for a re-do. My expectations are that neither the Scotus or the congress would take the matter up even if definitive, incontestable proof came tomorrow. New laws that put a candidate under increased scrutiny to document birth on American soil might be passed in the future, but they're not going to delve into the past of Obama. They just ain't.
This is an irrelevant hypothetical but fun to play with. Kind of like "what if Santa Claus was charged with child molestation?" It would rise to the level of "constitutional crises." Not the Santa Claus thing.
Wrong. A person born abroad in wedlock to a U.S. citizen mother and a U.S. citizen father acquires U.S. citizenship at birth under section 301(c) of the Immigration and Nationality Act. I don't think Obama's citizenship is off the table even now. His unwillingness to prove it and then producing a bogus birth certificate kind of left that door open. You have to admit he was shady about a lot of things, not a quality one looks for in someone who wants to be the leader of the free world. I think there's a lot of things Trump should be looking into now, he'll be a different president then with a lot more power and should prosecute everyone involved in the Mueller farce and that goes all the way to the top of the last administration.
He would still be a natural born citizen. As would have been McCain or Ted Cruz, if elected. But even if he wasn't eligible, ... let's say he was actually 34, they would still stand because he was sworn in as President, and the only way to "undo" that is, according to the Constitution, impeachment. And only for the reasons described in the corresponding clause.
He reversed everything except the one thing that really matters to you clowns. His black face on a wall next to the pictures of all the other US presidents.
Doesn't matter who the president is, all of their policies would stand if found to be ineligible. Actually, according to the Constitution every president since Harrison is ineligible to be president so none of their policies would stand. Can you imagine trying to undo that?
With this I agree 100%. However my thought is that the SCOTUS is the only authority that could make that decision.
He is a native born citizen because just like John McCain is. To become a citizen at birth, you must: · Have been born in the United States or certain territories or outlying possessions of the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction of the United States; OR · had a parent or parents who were citizens at the time of your birth (if you were born abroad) https://www.uscis.gov/us-citizenship
There are only TWO kinds of US citizenship.. Natural born and Naturalized. Keep that in mind as you wander thru this mental minefield.
