She ran on responsible gun regulation, now she's accused of killing her campaign treasurer A former Georgia Congressional candidate has been charged with murder after her former campaign treasurer was found dead inside her apartment. Kellie Collins, of Thomason, turned herself into the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office just as authorities in Aiken County, South Carolina found the body of Curtis Cain, Collins’ former campaign treasurer. Investigators said Cain did not show up for work on Tuesday, so deputies went to his home to check on him. That’s when they found him dead from an apparent gunshot wound. Is a whomp whomp appropriate? From the Federalist: Collins ran as a Democrat against Republican incumbent Rep. Jody Hice. In an interview, Collins said, “The GOP is targeting all women, minorities, members of the LGBT community and disabled people as lesser sections of society and you can see it in the bills they have passed and are attempting to pass so far in 2017.” Collins also called President Trump an “unqualified demagogue” and was a proponent of socialized health care. Collins dropped out of the race in 2017, a year before the charges, citing personal reasons. In addition to murder charges, police charged Collins with grand larceny after Cain’s Subaru Legacy was reported missing.
This really is at the heart of why democrat voters don't want people to own guns. They know how violent they are, or have friends and family members who are extremely violent or involved in crime, so don't want anyone else to own a firearm. Conservatives, on the other hand, want other people to own firearms because we see people as needing to be able to defend themselves from violent people. That paradigm makes all the difference.
I've experienced this in a few left-leaning folks who have (quite honestly, to their credit) argued 'I don't trust myself with a gun and [thus] I can't trust anyone else with one either.' They were notoriously bad at regulating their emotional responses to conflict. Im not prepared to accept this dynamic as a major contributor to the desire for more gun laws... yet. But given the emotional reaponses to Trump lately, Im not ruling it out either.
Wasn't there a CA legislator railing against guns that caught caught facilitating the transfers of weapons, including rocket launchers, to domestic terror organizatiobs a few years back?
