Oh please. That the Russians aided Trump is beyond dispute. I think even the idiot in chief has stopped denying the Russian involvement in the election.
A person shows up, claims they are someone else, and votes. When I vote, I watch the process, I could easily cast a vote claiming to be someone else. The poll worker checks for the name in her book, the voter signs the book, and votes. Wide open for fraud, and unless the real person comes in and votes and the poll worker says he already voted, then nobody knows.
WRONG. In Wisconsin you can get an ID for voting, its only for voting. The ID required to get the voter ID card is much broader than for a DL or state ID card. Read the link I provided previously.
Yes voter ID does help dissuade voter fraud. But have you considered that perhaps the miniscule number of "illegal/duplicate" voters is outweighed by the number of those who could not easily register? Would you advocate for automatic registration upon reaching age of majority as part of the voter ID program, say thru school programs? Would you advocate that old age home residents could obtain registrations in situ? Seems to me that any voter ID program's primary objective is NOT to dissuade fraud, but to empower as many eligible voters as possible. Today's advocates for ID all appear to focus on fraud not universal enfranchisement. Bass awkards or what?
I disagree - or more specifically it seems that the advocates of voter ID very much want the unintended consequences which is to disenfranchise a large number of people for whom obtaining and securing suitable ID is quite onerous. Purge the rolls in areas where people aren't going to vote for you and then make it really difficult for them to re-register whilst at the same time implement Voter ID legislation to make it more difficult for those who do manage to make it back onto the rolls to actually place their vote.
Oh I didn't say he could I said he might attempt. He seems to throw out all kinds of conventions and established ethics.
Again HOW. He has no control over state elections or the Secretary's of States who oversee them. They are NOT federal functions.
No more or less than in your country................have you? Again how much voter fraud is OK? One single vote in the last West Virginia state election would have decided which party controlled their House. So how miniscule does it have to get to matter? I advocate anyone who wants to register then go do so, if they don't have the gumption to go and do it on their own then that indicates to me they would not be an educated voted and I prefer they not vote. Don't know how you come to that conclusion and I certainly didn't need to be "empowered" to go and register and vote. It's my civic duty. If we could guaranty that ALL citizens are honest and upstanding and no one would ever commit voter fraud then we wouldn't need it.
Well so far in all the primaries that have been held for the upcoming mid-terms how many people could not vote because they did take the care nor show the concern to have a proper ID?
LMAO... Please tell us how old voting machines with no internet connection are susceptible to Russian hackers and/or saboteurs. Do they go into the polling place and knock out the elderly election judges inside? Knock out voters waiting in line, steal their voting cards, and pull the levers for them? How exactly and how many votes have been altered by Russian means and how many elections have been overturned by them?
Hillary didn't get the nomination back in 2008 did she ? I wonder why the left keeps ignoring China's meddling in our elections ? This meddling in other countries elections has been going on for decades. The United States has been doing it since 1946.
Officials demand answers after more than 118,000 people were left off L.A. County voter rosters Did the Russian mess with the recent election in Los Angeles?
Well when used as a political weapon the point isn't to stop you from voting, it's to stop some people from voting. We've seen cases where lines were 10 hours long - for example, on/near college campuses or in Arizona Hispanic areas. That kind of tactic absolutely does work. It means people who aren't strong enough, can't afford to take that much time off of work, have families that must be cared for, etc., tend to drop out of the line. The result is that fewer people from that precinct vote - SUCCESS! We've seen a good number of states that have reduced the number of precincts, leaving people longer distances from the place where they can vote. So, transportation becomes a block. Polling places are RIFE with opportunity for what should be considered crimes against our democracy.
Er, who said anything about hackers hacking non digital voting machines? Oh right NOBODY. I have no way of knowing if there was direct manipulation of voting totals. I do know that various states have admitted that hackers did penetrate voting administration networks. I do know that last week, an 11 year old hacked into and changed voting totals at Defcon in UNDER 10 minutes. Of course actual manipulation of voting totals (if it turns out to have happened) is entirely separate from the hacking of private networks, theft of information, the fake news factory, the army of bots/cyborgs/trolls, the agents on the ground, etc.
Can you name any large scale bureaucratic system that is 100% accurate and effective? Of the billions of votes cast, of the numerous investigations launched, in the consistently minuscule quantities uncovered, its seems to be way more than 99.5% effective in preventing such fraud. On the other hand what if the "solution" to what you perceive to be a huge problem, disenfranchises people in the process, and prevents or discourages many others not register for the state issued ID? Its not necessarily about 'gumption". Although am I not surprised you attribute a huge number of diverse reasons to a single cause.
What I'd like to see is a voter registration system that requires proof of citizenship before being registered to vote. Some one here estimated that 100,000 non-citizens were registered to vote by the Pennsylvania DMV. Its not necessarily about 'gumption". Although am I not surprised you attribute a huge number of diverse reasons to a single cause.[/QUOTE]
The electoral system is one of the reasons the US is regarded as a damaged democracy. I realise it's controlled by the states but the variation in process from state to state and the political influence, if not control, is quite remarkable.
Ever notice that the Democrats and the MSM never mention Chinagate ? One of the biggest foreign contributors to the DNC and Democratic politicians during the past 25 years has been the Chinese. I'd make a large Vegas bet that it was the Chi-Coms who hacked the DNC. Where do think the DNC servers were manufactured ? China ! It's well known that the Chi-Coms have been installing back doors on computers assembled in China to gain access in the future. Why are Chinese ZTE cellphones banned on military bases ?
