I think that you are misinformed. Or perhaps not misinformed as perhaps misled. The fact of the matter is that wealth has been going to fewer and fewer hands. The United States has the greatest income inequality of any country.

I know conservatives like to pretend it is all the fault of dumb poor people, but the economic crash at the end of Bush's presidency was caused by policies that allowed the very rich to extract large portions of wealth leaving the system for the rest of us starved for cash. This can be best seen in that at the start of the crash, most layoffs were due to companies unable to secure operating loans.

Nonetheless I should point out a funny. You began by claiming I didn't know how income tax worked. Something that apparently you just made up in an effort to make me look inferior. Yet in your efforts to paint me as ignorant you seem to be expressing your own ignorance. On a regular basis, I can work the numbers to greatly reduce the amount of my income exposed to income taxes. The greater part of taxes I pay are property taxes.

 

You seem to be missing the point. Carnegie and the others did price fix. They did it on a regular basis. It was when the stakes got high that Carnegie stabbed his partners in the back. He then used that advantage to purchase technology that made Carnegie steel the best steel in the country.

 

No one has to ask you. Everyone who has worked for corporations has seen employee exploitation and unlawful activity.

 

Just yesterday a poster was insisting that Bush stopped the economic crash and Obama just followed Bush's lead. That poster also insisted that Bush bailed out GM even though the deal went down while Obama was in office. Plus, at the time conservatives were hilariously characterizing the deal as a socialist government takeover of the auto industry.

What is the "Progressive Agenda" (with capital letters)? "Progressivism" is anything from liberal capitalism to Marxism. There is no unified front, no unified platform, and no unified plan.

 

He "saved America" from a recession you blame on a president? Qualify that please.

They seem to forget that the Democrats took the Congress back January of 2007 a year before the recession began with the Republicans handing them a 4.5% unemployment rate, record increases in tax revenues, strong GDP growth and a paltry $161B deficit.

 

And how it dramatically and quickly improved under Trump, who Democrats kept saying would "cause a depression" and "crash the economy."

 

It slowly started to turn around in 2012 when the Republicans at least took back the House, then the Senate too in 2015 and now we are FINALLY getting into the recovery we never got into under Democrat policies.

And you are correct to note the folly of simply assigning recessions or the economy to just who was sitting in the Oval Office at the time. The balance of power between the House, the Senate and the Oval Office is more telling.
