For supper/breakfast at 0700AM after a 12 hour graveyard shift:

- last serving of leftover homemade beef stew with potatoes and vegies;

- red Sangria wine

- shot of moonshine chaser (I know -- this is @ArmySoldier 's favorite part !!).

 

And … ??

What's wrong with that ??

Millions of Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines cannot be all wrong.

 

I havent said much about this situation because Im a big believer in live & let live and your choices have no effect on me. But I always envision the ant & grasshopper... one playing and having a good time with no regard for the future. Fact is... there are long term consequences to your lifestyle. Ten years from now, these SBs will probably be soccer moms, married and looking forward to a long & happy life. (Assuming there are no STDs to worry about and they found a good man who accepts their past life). You, on the other hand will be at or past retirement age, living alone with the physical issues of old age plus the challenges of living on a fixed income.

We all regret bad decisions we made in the past. I have some doozies Id like to do over. Cant help thinking you're probably gonna really wish you had all that money you've spent on SBs thru the years. Not to mention regret not spending this time searching for a lasting relationship with someone you can grow old with. Lonely is bad enough, but old, sick, broke and alone is about as bad as it can get. Srsly hope you dont end up there.

Of course, the other thought I have is how in the world you can stand spending so much time with 20 somethings. If it was me, I'd need valium and viagra to get thru it.

 

It may be worth it, given that his SB's seem to be meeting a very compelling short term need - perhaps even a survival need generated by the crushing trauma of his disastrous marriage.

Have noticed that "old, sick, ... and alone" is a common ending, but often for women who usually outlive the men who love them.
OTOH, the "broke" part is usually avoidable. HWGA needs to be a tough negotiator.

 

I give him likes. But then I am not very hard to please.

 

Friends with benefits - sounds nicer.

 

'Short term' seems to be lasting for years. In my experience, women handle being alone much better than men. Do you need more proof than paying for female companionship?

 

And when the women die first their men seldom last much longer.

 

Wishing theyd finally get thru with construction in my bldg. I hear jackhammers and drills in the lobby and Im on the tenth floor.

 

With all due respect to HWGA, I really had to laugh at that last sentence. Without getting specific and leaving it to one's imagination, I think I may want to be a fly on the wall for those negotiations.

 

Are you sure it's not just your boss throwing a conniption?

Not on Monday... thats her day to play invisible.

 

It can work the other way also. There is a case in the town where I live the husband died about three weeks ago and the wife died a few days ago very sad situation.

 

Women are usually far more durable and resilient.

I meant OLD men have a tough time without a woman. I mean, we have the confirmed bachelor Foolie as an example... of what, I'm not sure.
