Redding, CA – A concealed carry license holder fatally shot a man who attacked him while he was holding a 4-month-old baby on Wednesday night, police said. Wonder if there will be a public outcry. Source: https://defensemaven.io/bluelivesma...-while-holding-infant-bjiPA2ifTEyyHNwylXgiyg/
I kinda phased out at the part when my parents told me "when mommy and daddy love each other very much."
You sure love to cherry pick. I am much more interested in statistical averages which the gun apologists on this board are in denial about. You can not come up with even one study which shows an association between gun ownership and greater safety. I can come up with many to show the opposite.
Does the absence of such studies do anything to impugn the legitimacy of the second amendment of the united states constitution? Is legal firearms ownership contingent upon demonstrating a compelling public net benefit in order to remain legal?
That's gun ownership in general - which include illegal gun possession by criminals who are more apt to misuse guns, inflating the numbers. Those same sides show that living alone or renting are more dangerous that owning guns. In fact, Kellermann's study on homicide showed that owning long guns had a lower risk for homicide than not owning guns at all. At best, such studies are a PSA. You trade risk for convenience all the time, or you'd eschew owning a car for public transport.
That's a hard sentence to write correctly. Your first sentence made it seem like the attacker had the infant, not the defender. (Defender being the man who used the gun in self defense).
No. No. We are aware of the problem of handgun violence in this country, and we take seriously the concerns raised by the many amici who believe that prohibition of handgun ownership is a solution. The Constitution leaves the District of Columbia a variety of tools for combating that problem, including some measures regulating handguns, see supra, at 54–55, and n. 26. But the enshrinement of constitutional rights necessarily takes certain policy choices off the table. https://www.law.cornell.edu/supct/html/07-290.ZO.html

Better. I realized what happened when I read the article, but it's a hard situation to explain in a headline type sentence.
In other words, a more correct title would have been: Man holding infant is attacked, and subsequently shoots his attacker.
Kind of dumb he didn't put the infant down before confronting an out of control psychopath, but otherwise well done.
Not enough zing - you need the drama to draw the readers: Infant being held by father shoots attacker! Your welcome.
