The plan to replace it is called the free market.

Know it. Live it. Love it.

You might want to research the specific issues involved there. Ask someone over 65.

Wow! Astonishing. Conservatism is a very new ideology. I thought it went back a ways. Got some nifty anti-muslim conservative quotes from before 1990?

He promised to repeal and replace. You and Trump 'forgot' that second half. Now who is a lying sack of crap?

No the promise was to repeal and replace it with something better and stronger and that is what he signed onto. Don't lie.

Do some research about conservativism and anti-Islamic views. You should know what you are talking about. I was born much earlier, and I can remember the speeches of so many American conservative thinkers, pundits, and statesmen over the decades. I remember Barry Goldwater, Ronald Reagan etc I can't remember any of that. If such views are a fundamental cornerstone of the ideology, so much that to defend a Muslim, is by definition an anti-conservative position, you should have no problem finding some evidence that your assertion is reflected in history. I trust McCain to have a better feel for what conservativism is, than you do. He and I have both hung around them longer than you have.

Old conservatism is your world, we are in a new time now and redefining it.

I don't care what it used to be like, just what we can make it now.

If the McCain's were conservatism their time has passed and they were wrong.

They showed it to be weak, their values weak, their beliefs weak.

We will replace their flaws and make conservatism the way it was meant to be.

An unbending belief in the core principles.

So you and your McCain's can make your deals with the other side but we will fight them until we are victorious.

Lump your praise on the traitors like Obama while criticizing the Trumps.

    We hear you.

This is why the country is where it is. Downplaying rational voices like McCain's. It speaks volumes when democrats can appreciate republicans like McCain. Even if Obama were a Muslim, does it make any difference than if he was Christian? No it doesn't.

A past when republicans were American, and patriotic. When it was better to work with a democrat for the country than with a dictator of a hostile power against the country.

As opposed to what? Siding with Christians? Muslims hold conservative values too.

ted kennedy and barry goldwater were the best of friends. they would argue vigorously in the senate chamber, punch the clock and go have dinner together. then they’d start all over again the next day. they could be deeply divided on policy but still respect each other as a colleague. that is now gone. if you don’t hate the person across the aisle, there must be something wrong with you.

I think it's possible for us to "replace" it, as long as we meet in the middle. As an example: I think there's a place for a Public Option, but there should also be a place for a Private Option too. It simply goes against the tenants of being an American to be subjugated to any system. That's not who we are, and that more than anything is why Dems lost the majority in Congress in 2010.

Interesting responses, few of them about the ability of McCain to put personal decency ahead of partisan struggles.

It shows, though, that quite a few of our conservative forum members could have been that person at the really saying "I don't trust that Arab".

Now, those same people demand from Democrats that they treat Trump with respect, when Trump has never shown respect to anyone. You reap what you sow. McCain treated people respectfully, that's what he got in return. Trump gets in return what he sows: Blind partisan and personal hate.

She didn't say he was a black nationalist. She said he was an Arab. He isn't an Arab. And he was critical of black nationalism. There are legitimate reasons to criticize Obama. There is no need for fantasies like these.

You were born in 1994? Jeez, I have sweaters older than you. Take a minute and read up on Eisenhower Republicans. Conservatives used to be conservationists.. and they cared about people.

Obama wasn't a black nationalist.. Maybe Moi621 doesn't know the meaning of "nationalism".

Anyone who thinks a true Muslim would ever set foot in a christian church, let alone belong to one for 16 years, is utterly clueless.
