Hi y'all! I'm new, anyhow, my sister lives in the Durham area, and the company she works for has restored power to PR. I wish she would come here to metro Atl but she says she is part of the emergency response team for her company.

The company I work for is located in Burlington. Their all scrambling to get ready. Some in flood areas. Gonna be bad if it just sits on top of them.

I'm not a religious sort, but I pray for a swift response from the Feds.

My cousin's family live on the Ashley River in Charleston....they recently completed an extensive and beautiful remodel on their 100+ year old home. They evacuated to his sister's place in Columbia yesterday...which is not completely out of the woods.

fingers crossed for everyone in the path.

11 Sept.`18 - Hurricane Florence - the most powerful storm to threaten the Carolinas in nearly three decades - is expected to strengthen, say forecasters.

So the usual idiots will refuse to evacuate..........the local ‘people of color’ politicians will overlook their own local resources ( see Ray ‘Chocolate City’ Ragin and the hundreds of idle school buses) and end the end all the morons will blame President Trump for an act of God.......

Hello GaJenn. Thank your sister for helping us get power back. Is her company here in PR permanently?

I'm watching CNN and they are showing a wind meter for Florence. It is certainly a Cat 4 but has a consistent wind gust beyond a Cat 5 hurricane.

According to weather reports the high moving east is now moving southeast which will likely push Florence south of original predicted point of entry. It will hit highly populated areas. Wooden homes don't do well in high winds or flooding. A very stressful situation for many.

Oh no.. That means Cheraw, Society Hill and Bennetsville will also be hit.

That will really depend on how accessible the areas hit will be. And if folks were smart enough to get out and not become a problem for FEMA and first responders.

Some weather outlets are insisting on a 30+ foot storm surge in some areas.

    This is an apocalyptic scenario.

Get out of there, while you still can.

It looks like it will at least slow down heavily, hopefully it wont stall and sit. Some places will see a lot of rain for a couple of days. Good luck if you are impacted.

I'm near Hillsborough NC. I was in Wake Forest when Fran came through, and was without power for two weeks. This storm makes Fran look like a spring shower.

Thanks. I'm well prepared and self sufficient. I have generators, chainsaws, and heavy equipment. Best news for me is, I'm well inland, and the morning update has it taking a southerly turn.
