Don't you love it when they hoist themselves by their own petards. Apparently cops are that stupid so you shouldn't have trouble believing this one was.

The fact that she parked her car on the fpurth floor which corroborate with her story. Keep in mind that we still have thing called presumption of innocence. It's up to you to prove that her story doesn't line up and in fact she intended on shooting him.

What you do first when at home is irrelevant. What is relevant is,... can you spot if it's your house of not with the light shining in from the hallway? And the answer is.. of course.

How is this relevant to this discussion? The cop killed an unarmed man in his own home minding his own business.

He probably likes blue people more than black people, and so let this killer walk free for days on end.

You're obsessively playing the race card with nothing to back it up.

There is no way you can miss the apartment number. There is no way with a hallway that brightly lid, and looking into the apartment with the light shining in,.. that you fail to spot it's not your stuff in there.

So the dummy had been living in an apartment with a front door , light bar, and apartment numbers in neon just like that one and she's too damn stupid to look at the number, which is in NEON? How many other doors did she pass on her way to kill the guy? I wonder if the door handles and locks are on the same side of the doors?

I wonder if they have large numbers indicating the floor in the garage area or on the access door? Since it seems like a very organized building all of the parking spots should be numbered for the tenants. So which parking spot did the killer dummy park in?

I wouldn't necessarily look at the light bar if I knew this was my apartment as she claims she believed she knew. It's not on the door. What's your point here? She has been charged with manslaughter as the law dictates. That can get her 20 years. What's your beef?

Actually there is a way you can mistake an apartment number. People do it all the time. If they're preoccupied or under the influence it's very easy to miss an apartment number. As for the light shining in, again, if she was preoccupied or when she saw the door was unlocked went into flight or fight mode and didn't see details like different furniture then she could've mistaken it for her apartment. When you start with an assumption, it's very easy to miss even glaring details.

I don't know specifically. All I know is she parked on the wrong floor.

My beef is that the thug cop is a cold-blooded killer and that the system is covering up for her. If there are any floor numbers in the parking garage or assigned spaces her story is easily debunked as pure BS. Even an idiot DA could convict her of first degree murder if he wanted to.

What's being covered up? She's charged with a VERY SERIOUS HOMICIDE facing 20 years in prison. First degree murder based on what premeditated intent?

The assumption people are making for the thug cop is that she was justified in killing the black guy. So they are tossing out common sense to give her a break. If cops aren't slapped upside their heads when they do criminal acts one day they will do one to you or to one of your family members. Imagine if the victim had been your father. Would you still be making excuses for the thug cop?

I admit that that I haven't read every post in the thread but who is making that assumption? From what I could see, people are arguing whether this is murder or manslaughter.
For one I'm not making excuses. I'm simply explaining how cam someone mistake an apartment room for there own. For another, thug doesn't really fit the description in this case. A thug is someone who habitually engages in criminal acts. This was one tragic incident and from the evidence gathered so far, appears to be a tragic accident. Don't get me wrong, I believe she should be sentenced for manslaughter or the equivlant of reckless behavior resulting in death.

The killing was not an accident. It was premeditated murder.

If I had opened the door to my own apartment and there was a strange man standing there in his underwear, I would likely think that I had inadvertently entered the wrong apartment. Yes...that would be my first impulse. I would probably say something like "Oops, I'm so sorry. I thought this was my apartment...OMG, how embarrassing".

It all goes back to this post of yours:
Can you explain if you mean "unarmed" as in no gun, or as in no weapon of ANY kind?

Whose apartment is pitch black, there are lights from appliances, TVS, etc. Where did she say she saw his silhouette in the window. She claims she gave verbal commands, so it couldn't have happened immediately and isn't it just awful convenient that she went to the wrong apartment and the door just happened to not be locked. Way too much coincidence.

Common sense. She just mistakenly goes to the wrong apartment, he just happens to leave his door unlocked, oh it was dark and I couldn't see anything then all of a sudden I see a dark silhouette across the room and he just stands there saying nothing. Come on man if someone pops up in your apartment you are going to flip the script. Too much bullshit that anyone with a little common sense is not buying.
