Facing the prospect of bruising electoral defeat in congressional elections, President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he won’t accept the blame if his party loses control of the House in November, arguing his campaigning and endorsements have helped Republican candidates.

He dismissed suggestions that he might take responsibility, as his predecessor did, for midterm losses or view the outcome as a referendum on his presidency.

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha.... who give a rats behind what he'll accept.... The blame will be at least 95% on his doorstep... by that, I mean Mar-A-Lago of course...

What happened to his new favorite campaign rally cry?? "A vote for X is a vote for me"....

News Flash, Spanky..... "A vote for Y is a vote against you"

When the GOP loses the house, why shouldn't Trump receive the lions share of the blame??

Why should he take the blame. And why assume Republicans will lose the House.

Alternatively, why should he be blamed? Historically the party in power always loses in the midterms, itd be weird if the Republicans dont lose. It's a stretch to try and blame trump for what's been a historical constant.

Mr.Trump is not known for accepting responsibility for anything of having a thick skin so this is expected. His Ego and mentality cannot accept unpleasant truths.

I'm lazy, but you think you could post a few past articles about how Obama took the blame for 2010...

    Spoken like a true Trumpster.

Endorsing the fact that your hero won't take responsibility for anything. And cheering for it!

    Now that's real leadership!

Me too... see, I knew we had something in common...

I'm on my phone, but I googled 'Obama blame 2010 midterms' and found several hits to your point...

You're going to get the blame whether you "accept" it or not... a man steps up... a clown deflects...

When did his predecessor take responsibility for the thousands of sets his party lost during his terms?

I listen to the interview...sounded to me that he didn't say he wouldn't, he rejected the very premise that the DNC was going to have some massive victory....

Big difference between getting the blame and accepting the blame. Trump should not face different standards than Obama on this, yet I doubt our liberal fiends will agree...

And the fact that they are already in damage control coupled with the fact that most polls (538 is giving them a 4 in 5 chance, up from 3 in 4 back in august) show that they will re-take it.

He did his part with the rallies.

I just can't believe Americans will support this crop of Democrats / Leftists. I don't think anyone in the GOP will be apologizing as they win.

Trump won't face any standards.. he buries his head and points fingers in every direction except inward...

But there is no different standard being used from 2010... Obama got stomped and accepted the blame...

Its too soon to tell what the outcomes of the midterms will be, but the right has become the party of Trump. To deny that simple fact is tantamount to burying your head in the sand

This election is a referendum on Trumps presidency. I don't think thats really up for debate. But Trump wading in early to distance himself from the outcomes is two fold

    1. His ego is waaayyyyy to big to allow even a thought that a loss could be even remotely attributed to him or anything he has ever done
    2. He may have actually seen the polls ;)

Looks like Obama was talking out of both sides of his mouth:

Obama: Don't Blame Me For The Democrats' Demise

At one point in President Obama's interview with ABC News that aired over the weekend, George Stephanopoulos noted that "the Democratic Party got pretty hollowed out on your watch, about 1,000 seats lost in the Congress, Senate, governors, state houses." Then he asked: "Is that on you?"

It was a good question. Since Obama took office, Democrats' fortunes have plummeted. The party lost 900 seats in state legislatures, 12 governorships, 69 House seats and 13 Senate seats.

Clearly, whatever leadership Obama provided, it wasn't helping Democrats connect with voters across the country.

    So what was Obama's response?

"My docket was really full here," Obama said, "so I can't be both chief organizer of the Democratic Party and function as commander in chief and president of the United States."

Obama thinks everyone talks about how cool he is.

"People, always talk about how cool I am."

Trump never accepts responsibility for anything unless it is something good that was accomplished by someone else.

Democrats have convinced themselves there is a "blue wave"...just as convinced as they were Hillary was going to crush Trump.

Historically the party in power loses seats. NOTHING new at all. Its history. Besides, Trump can't control everything. They're all individuals. If someone loses badly who Trump stumped for, then thats something. But if they win, thats ALSO something. Basically there is no massive blue wave that the MSM predicted. Unless something dreadful happens in the next few weeks. I can't stand watching local stations anymore with the horrendous commercials from both sides. They should make a new law that prohibits negative commercials. Say whatever you want during the debates or on your website, but any commercials can only talk about YOU and NOT your opponent. The smearing is so tiresome. Typical but tiresome.
