How many times are you going to intentionally get this wrong?

Lower tax yes...loss of deductions yes.

Net tax LIABILITY, a 2500 tax INCREASE

Lesh is a perfect example of why this country is so screwed up. He rails against Republicans who actually put more of the tax revenue back into the hands of the people who earn it and votes for Democrats who tax the crap out of him. Then he comes on message boards and screams about how Trump is screwing him over while it's his own representatives who keep stealing his money.

But he keeps voting them in office and he keeps crying about it. It's a perfect example of people that can't use logic and reason and understand their own politics.

Sorry Lesh, wise up. Seriously. Look closely at who is actually taking all your money and who is trying to keep it in your own hands. Take the politics out of it and look at these people, not as party affiliates, but as people and what they stand for.

    Example:

Person A: I'll give you $80/month if you vote for me.
Person B: Give me $125/month if vote for me.

Who the f*** would you vote for? Seriously. Look at the policies, not the party.

After that, it's all on you, you make those decisions and you live with them.

Well you lucked out. Probably because your property taxes are low. Mine are not.

It will cost folks in my tax situation thousands of dollars , That goes for California,NY,NJ, Mass and probably other states as well...be they Dem or Republican

But hey...you got yours so hey...it's all good.

Again...folks making 50K-60K? They get next to nuthin...and they can look in their own pay checks and see it

Bullshit. I don't even WANT a tax cut. And I can afford the tax increase.

Vote your pocketbook. That's what Cokie Roberts used to say before the democrats abandoned working people.

    Spot on.

And when the cost of living, taxes, illegal immigrant crime gets too high, they leave to other states to vote for the SAME policies of failure.

Im in California. The highest taxed state in the Union.

I got a larger refund thanks to Trumps tax cut.

We pay a dollar per gallon in state taxes btw-dems want to raise it.

"dollar per gallon state taxes" already. Parts of Route 66 are still driveable, but that gas tax is another good reason not to visit California.

Its hilarious, lefties and their politicians accuse the oil companies of being greedy-and the state makes more per gallon in profit than they do.

The gas taxes are implemented to improve the roads, but they don't improve, and they move the revenue to the general fund to buy more votes.

And its happened several times now.

They play the dems here, and they eat it up.

How the Republican tax bill benefits the rich, according to government analysis

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...o-government-analysis/?utm_term=.6f790ad134c8

There are two governmental organizations that have conducted nonpartisan analyses of the anticipated effects of Republican legislation aimed at overhauling the tax system. There’s the Joint Committee on Taxation, established in 1926 with congressional oversight to prepare revenue estimates on proposals related to taxation. There’s also the Congressional Budget Office, which produces independent analysis of the budgetary effects of legislation.

Recently released analyses from both groups come to the same conclusion. Over both the short- and long-term, the benefits of the Republican proposal is weighted to wealthier Americans.

The GOP tax proposal is really, really unpopular

"One aspect of the JCT’s analysis included an estimate of how many households in various income ranges would see increases or decreases in the amount of tax paid. The vast majority of those making under $10,000 a year — 96 percent — would see a minimal change (no more than $100 in either direction) in their tax bill by 2019. By contrast, 91 percent of households making between $500,000 and $1 million a year would see a cut of at least $500."

My property taxes are not horrible because they are limited by a property tax measure that was passed probably 20 years ago. Last year, my assessed value was about $80k under the market value as a result. Also, I live in a smallish home. Almost all of my neighbors have larger homes, and I'm sure they're paying more in property taxes.

The one flaw in the new tax code to my way of thinking is that it doesn't allow for the state income tax (or sales taxes) to be deducted which means that we're getting taxed on that money twice. I paid around $11k in state income tax last year. This year I'll probably pay a similar amount, but my federal income tax will be calculated with that money counted as income, effectively taxing me twice on that money. I would like to see that changed. But still, because of the lower rates, my overall federal tax will be quite a bit lower than last year.

I disagree with you about that 50k-60k household, as I showed you. I used the calculator to find that if you're single with no dependents and you make $55k, the difference between 2017 and 2018 is +$1490 in favor of the taxpayer. This taxpayer owes $5405 for 2018 rather than $6895 in 2017. That's a difference of +$124/month to the taxpayer's favor. I also showed you where the family of 4 at the same income gets its tax liability completely wiped out and gets a refund, a net change of +$1644 to their favor which is +$137/month.

Granted, to those of us who make substantially more money than that, $137 may not seem like much, but it is significant to a low income family. I find it hard to criticize the effect on low income people when, in fact, that $55k family of 4 gets its entire tax liability wiped out and gets a refund, effectively giving them a $137/month pay raise that they wouldn't have got if the new tax laws hadn't been passed.

And FWIW, I didn't agree with lowering the top rate, owing to the fact that we do have an annual budget deficit. I would agree to lowering the top rate after the budget is balanced and if it stays balanced. I believe that if we spend it, we should pay for it.

Yea...you also make a quarter million a year. (you claimed)

The tax cut worked out very well for people in your income bracket no matter what state they are from.

How much more did you start getting in your paycheck once the “huge tax cuts” went into effect?

So if I follow here. Someone making serious money gets a tax break of thousands...and a family just getting by gets a whopping $30 a week.

And all it costs us is a trillion or two added to the debt

You're making my case for me

Republicans used to SCREAM about the debt

they shut down government...they forced the Sequester. They stifled the Stimulus

All things that cost jobs and reduced wages for ordinary people.

Now they add a couple trillion and try to buy their way out of that with THIRTY BUCKS A WEEK?

    Are ya kidding?

Lesh, you're smart enough to know that if you cut taxes on low-income, low-tax people, the amount of change to their favor is not going to be as many dollars as the amount of the cut to a higher income, higher tax rate person.

Also, it's worthwhile to note that while that $55k family of 4 will pay 0 federal income tax and get a refund, a couple making around $150k with no dependents is going to pay around $19,600 on their 2018 income. They would have paid $23,800 under the old tax laws. So yes, they are getting a tax reduction of around $4000, but they are paying $19,600 while that $55k family is paying nothing. This is not some sort of injustice to the low income family. They're paying nothing and getting a refund, thanks to the Trump/Republican tax law. They would have owed $986 under the old law. $986 is a lot of money to a $55k family of four.

    $30/week.

    $30/week
    .$1560/year
    $15,600/decade

I kind of like that additional $1560/year or $15,600/decade.

The sequester? Where Obama closed war memorials that vets were visiting?

The stimulus? Where Obama redistributed money his crony companies? (shocker-it failed)

Way more jobs now, and way less unemployment.

    Bad news for democrats.
