I'm not a fan of either man. But if you think Trump is to credit for the numbers, then you haven't actually looked at graphs of those numbers over the past several years. Just more of the rooster taking credit for the sunrise.

Cool. When you are ready to debate and discuss on this debate and discussion forum instead of trolling, let me know. I'll still be around.

Edit: I will go ahead and address the part that seems to be causing the most confusion. On the one hand, you say China manipulates its currency. Yes, it does, often by artificially devaluing it. And yet here we have a thread celebrating a devaluing of their currency. Think about that for a second.

"China artificially devalues their currency! They must be stopped! Oh, the value of their currency went down? Hooray, we have them on the run!" See flaw in that sort of thinking?

Well that would take some coherent choices on your end too! Of that I hold no hope for :(

    Example of futility :)

Yes. I figured that was the part that was causing the confusion and I just edited my post to further explain. Here it is:

    What's that smiley face mean?

Are you thrilled that Trump could remember the trade issues with China long enough to recite them in canned remarks??

The problem now is that we've eliminated our participation in Pacific trading pacts, reducing our ability to put continuing pressure on China to improve. In fact, without such pacts we're in a worse position to maintain any possible benefit tariffs could win.

And, so far there is no indication that tariffs are accomplishing anything other than higher prices in the USA.

Your lack of interest in the actual points being made is fairly clear at this point.

And yet you didn't start bitching about them until Trump was sworn in. I heard all the bullshit about how letting the world walk off with our manufacturing base was going to result in a workers paradise and clearly that was pure crap. We stagnated, now we are expanding and wages are rising and you are bitching for the "good old days" of Obama's "new normal" which quite frankly sucked.

Washington DC did great while the rest of us languished.

    GDP growth doubled
    Federal Debt growth reduced
Employment at an all time high
Wages growing at the fastest rates in nearly a decade

Trump is clearly a LOT better at this than you folks predicted.

Let the man continue work! He is CONVINCED that he can deliver 5% growth, and without the Trade Deficit, he would be.

Because he's the most protectionist person in modern history to sit in the Oval Office and he has no shame about violating the Constitution to institute these policies. Hell, the guy is so disconnected from reality that he actually thinks the nation would be millions of dollars wealthier if we cut off all trade. Yeah, I'm going to speak up with the worst example comes along. And I "started bitching about them" before he was sworn in.

    1) You've already been corrected on the misstatement that I did not complain about tariffs until Trump was sworn in.
    2) Please, please review your own graphs. This is the second one you've shared in this thread that has run counter to the point you are trying to make. For one thing, your graphs END when Trump was elected. Most economic indicators have been on the same steady rise since about 2009. They did not change dramatically when Trump took won the election, when he was sworn in, or since.

The numbers don't back up your claim. Sorry. Trump stepped into office on an upward swing (and, no, I don't credit Obama for that swing, but at least Obama supporters read the graphs), and those trends have continued.

Government workers LOVED Obamanomics for obvious reasons. It worked great for them, sucked for the American Worker.

Today’s ceremony, however, has very special meaning. Because today we are not merely transferring power from one Administration to another, or from one party to another – but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C. and giving it back to you, the American People.

For too long, a small group in our nation’s Capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne the cost.

Washington flourished – but the people did not share in its wealth.

Politicians prospered – but the jobs left, and the factories closed.

The establishment protected itself, but not the citizens of our country.

Their victories have not been your victories; their triumphs have not been your triumphs; and while they celebrated in our nation’s Capital, there was little to celebrate for struggling families all across our land.

That all changes – starting right here, and right now, because this moment is your moment: it belongs to you.

    Trump's First Inaugural Address

And he's done what he said he would do.

It's his words vs the numbers. The numbers win. Go back and look at your own graph and see that, even for the numbers you provided, the upward trend started well before he even announced he was running.

You managed to forget that average income includes those with high incomes as well as those with low incomes.

We've definitely seen the rich get richer. That was going well regardless, but Trump has made sure that those with high income see significant income growth.

What we've seen for middle America and below is a lot less to cheer about.

    So, the average went up.

But, the question (as always) is who did it benefit?

And, the answer is that it didn't help wage earning Americans to any significant degree. In fact, many actually lost buying power due to inflation.

That's an "upward" swing? Wait, I get it, you are hanging from your tail.

Now under Trump GDP growth has doubled, THAT'S an upward swing!

    The numbers bear him out.

    He's doubled GDP growth
Reduced the rate of growth of the Federal Debt
Employment is at all time highs
Wages are shooting up faster than at antime in nearly a decade.

The so called "experts: predicted NONE of that. You certainly didn't. You have been predicting disaster since the election.

Nah, don't need a tail, just need to show what GDP has looked like over the past several years. See if you notice a pattern. And I don't know why you are celebrating the fact that, even looking at your own graph, it begins to flatten under Trump. Anyway, like I said, see if you can find the pattern.

His casting of the problem was 100% BS. It was not even close. For example, jobs didn't leave because of politicians prospering. They left due to the Republican recession. Yes, the financial establishment protected itself - after stealing trillions from the American people, and Republicans saw to it that we're still as vulnerable as we were in 2007.

Trump's biggest lie here is one of omission. Our economy was turned back around and resumed it's climb. He just ran to pretend he was in front of the parade.

And, what Trump has brought has targeted the wealthy - NOT wage earning Americans. Nor has it made a difference that has trickled down to wage earning America. Nor has it been sound in terms of our deficits as he cuts taxes to help the wealthy.

    Horseshit.

Over Trump's first 21 months hourly earnings have climbed $1.31/hr
Over Obama's last 21 months, they only climbed by $1.11/hr

    Trump whips Obama by 18%

    Let's test that theory.

GDP grown has been on the same upward trend since 2009.

    Strike 1

    Awesome! Let's take a look at that significant . . .

    Womp womp. Strike 2.

Surely this time there won't be an easily detectable pre-existing trend that he's riding on. This is the one; I can feel it!

Ouch. Strike 3. But let's call the first one a practice swing and try for one more.

    Let's cross our fingers. Notrendnotrendnotrend . . .

Well, you got closer this time. The trend started in 2012 instead of 2009. But, unfortunately, Trump also did not enter office in 2012. No dice, Trump's credit-taking is fake news.

Cool, a bonus round! Let's check out that graph!

So . . . is the running theory that Trump had a secret time machine or that his policies were somehow so awesome that they couldn't be contained within the years he was in office and they retroactively started an obvious trend in 2009?
