Since this is the science section, it is customary to provide a link to the study or the evidence. YouTube videos to 80's New Wave bands are hardly evidence.
"Gallon of gasoline weighs 6.3 lbs makes 20 lbs of co2 when combusted" So whoopty-do. Most of that weight comes from the air that goes into an engine's intake manifold.
Kinda makes sense when the 'C' comes from the Gasoline and combines the TWO Oxygen molecules/O2 from the air. As well as creating other compounds from burning. `
Combustion cannot be beat. It has provided concentrated energy, comfort, convenience, and an easier life to mankind for millennia. Burn more hydrocarbons, burn 'em baby, because life is better.
It's not worse not having to burn hydrocarbons. But a lot of inconvenience and discomfort goes with that.
and then plants breathe the CO2, split off the C to grow and release the O2 for us to use. Its called an ecosystem.
Only if broken down (burned, eaten, etc.). If it remains as wood or some other product, it can stay in solid form and not become CO2.
If man does doesn't combust, and is going to lead a much, much hard life and endure a great deal of discomfort.
Everything dies and rots. Even if you make wood from a tree and build a home, eventually it gets torn down. Sooner or later its ashes to ashes, dust to dust for everything. And when that happens, CO2 is released. For this reason, algae blooms in the deep ocean are one of the best ways to naturally scrub CO2 from the atmosphere. The algae absorbs CO2 to grow. When it dies, it sinks to the bottom of the ocean, where it is preserved indefinitely by the cold temps and high pressure. Eventually it gets buried in the ocean floor, which in many many centuries, moves through tectonic plate motion, driving the preserved algae underground at very high pressure. And finally, it is converted to crude oil by time and pressure. This is how we got most of the oil that exists in the first place.
There are replacements for combustion coming along fast. Solar is now competitive with grid energy. And there are alternatives fuels that are carbon neutral, that can replace petroleum fuels. You are making a religion out of one of many energy sources.
In fact, that process can be monitored. We can even detect where the CO2 came from, because not all carbon is exactly alike! So, we have scientists studying where carbon accumulates, how long it stays where it is, where it came from, how much there is, etc.
