Trevor Noah: ‘The Second Amendment was not made for black folks’ https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/trevor-noah-the-second-amendment-was-not-made-for-black-folks Excellent observation and good point. Why does this keep happening, unless...?
Just completely hypothetically, would it somehow be less worse if we took it away from everybody rather than just blacks? If it came down to that, how do you think the black community would feel about it? Would the majority be in favor or against?
Ah, the issue isn't guns, violence, or even crime, its racism. And question specifically is, do white American's fear black Americans with guns simply because they are black? Anecdotal evidence suggests yes. That's sad and horribly evil.
Anecdotal evidence suggests they simply choose to live in another neighborhood far away and couldn't give a sh*t about what happens there. If the national news is any indication. When a white person shoots two other white people it's all over the news. When a black person shoots four other black people, it barely deserves a mention.
For the most part I disdain Noah's politics, but in this case.... he might have a point. I still believe in the right to bear arms (and always will), and I have friends who happen to be black or African American who feel the same way.... but when we have a society where law enforcement immediately targets someone simply because of the color of their skin then we have a problem. A BIG problem. It was said the black man in the shooting was witnessed helping direct people away from the violence... and got shot for his efforts. We should be hailing him as a hero... but instead we are mourning his unnecessary death and again questioning our law enforcement officers and our Constitutional rights.
I am white and I do not carry a gun as I would worry the same would happen to me, cops see everyone with a gun as a threat, if you do carry a gun, be sure to drop or at least conceal it the minute you see cops in a situation like that.. white or black remember the white guy with a bb gun (not even on him when killed), cops killed him dead as a door-nail - just cause he was white with a gun they assumed he was a mass shooter
I have often wondered how fast the right would ban AR rifles if all blacks carried one over their shoulder though - be interesting to see - should be legal as long as not concealed would not need a concealed carry license
Cops are being trained to shoot when they perceive a threat instead of assessing whether the threat is actual. Given that the majority of crime, and by extension the majority of police response occurs in urban centers where blacks tend to live (no, im not suggesting the two are causal- its far more complicated than that) it stands to reason that blacks would be effected to a higher degree than their representation within the total population would suggest. Presuming the cause is racism is an ignorantly simplistic and flawed analysis of the paradigm. The best way to correct this is by rejecting the 'shoot first' curriculum of LE training that has been pushed nationwide by DHS for over a decade. We're training cops that their personal safety is more important than the general public's. In essence, they've stopped 'protecting and serving' the public and now 'protect and serve' the established authority instead, again, as a result of the training curriculum We the People allow them to be subjected to. Consider the term itself- Law Enforcement. They used to be called Peace Officers...
Trevor Noah point is that a white person can actually enter a church and shoot the brains out a dozen of elderly praying Jews, shoot at the cops, and the cops will manage to arrest that white person so it can tell the tale. But when you're a black armed security guard at the scene doing your job, than you can get killed by the cops. Trevor had 2 more examples like this that recently happened. And so this has nothing to do with urban centers. It has to do with how cops react when black people are at the scene. I seriously doubt this is how cops are trained. It's how cops are, and probably how Americans are... since I doubt cops are much different than other people. And there are plenty of statistics that show that black people are treated FAR more harsh than white people. Black people get longer sentences under the exact same circumstances, get on parole less early. White people also commit more or an equal amount of drug related crime, but black people are arrested over this a heck of a lot more. I can source all of this. No worries. But maybe you should look into it, and see how racist the US justice department actually is,.. at every turn.
Can you source that legally armed blacks are wrongfully shot by police more often than other ethnic groups? That was the claim of the OP, wasn't it?
Given he was killed in the line of duty protecting the community I think he should get some sort of state funeral.
The party of Slavery, KKK, and Jim Crow don't want blacks to be able to defend themselves? Go on now... That's impossible...
So... how did we go from the police killing an African-American with a legally carried gun to 19th century ,southern Democrats?
The OP opposed 2A, specifically for Blacks. 2A empowers Black to defend themselves from future Democrats that long for the "good old days'.
And then there’s this: No Charges In Road Rage Incident https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wa...x-driver-then-died-after-he-was-punched-back/ Essentiallly, a Fed Ex Driver punched another driver in the head for calling him the forbidden word. The punch killed him. Hmmm? A death sentence for a foul mouth? Justice? Free speech? Hate Crime? Or justifiable homicide? Is it moral to kill a man over a word? In America? If so, can a woman kill you for calling her a btchng “c” word. I must admit, I’m surprised by decision and wonder if the reverse were true, would the result be the same?
This is a complicated issue. When LEOs are in the middle of an active shooter situation with people scrambling and fleeing toward them, the person holding the firearm will be considered the threat first and the legally licensed CCP person second. I’m not saying it’s right or wrong, I’m just making the observation.
The link in the OP states that when the officers entered several people had weapons drawn but only Bradford was shot and killed. "The late-night comedian slammed the Hoover Police Department for their statement declaring they got the shooter, a statement they later apologized for, and how multiple people had reportedly pulled out their guns but that the “only person who was shot by police was a black guy.”
So, the racist from South Africa weighs in... How surprising. It is hard to know the facts of the incident, but that hasn't stopped Noah from creating yet another "hands up don't shoot" moment. Perhaps it would be more instructive to ask Trevor what his thoughts are on the active extermination project his own home brew nation is engaging in. Like when South Africa took away guns from the land owners so it was easier for the government troops to kill them while taking their land? What say you on this Trevor?
Revealing that no one even entertains the thought that they might of instead been targeting someone brandishing a weapon.
Except that according to the reports I've read his gun was in a holster on his hip when he was shot; not being brandished.
