And they fall under the jurisdiction of the republican state legislature WHO MAKE LAWS THAT APPLY TO THE WHOLE STATE. LOL
Voters don’t make laws nor do they run the state and therefore the towns/cities within the state. The state legislature, which is heavily Repub does.
Are there not laws unique to New Orleans that were put in place by the Democratic leadership there? Do only state laws impact the standard of living and crime rate in New Orleans?
You first said voters. You seem to now be going down some rabbit hole. You really think New Orleans has an entirely different set of laws than the rest of the state?
You asked, "Why do you think the Dems run New Orleans?". I responded "More Democratic voters", as I assumed that's how the Democrats that run New Orleans got elected. An entirely different set of laws? No one has claimed that. However, NO does have unique laws and regulations for the city. I suspect the schools are run locally rather than at the state level, as is law enforcement and the mass transit system, among others.
State government could make laws preventing sanctuary cities anytime they want....you didn't know that?
Good point, but the DP leaders of our urban Hell Holes tend to encourage violent riots. Most RP governors don't have the stones to play chicken with a DP urban mayor. what really needs to be do Trump might do something to help the dying cities, but only if the local leaders tell him exactly what needs to be done. They should have been throwing as many ideas as they can think of from day one. Better late than never.
I guess Republicans are just too weak and cowardly to get the job done. I guess we know who to blame now. That was easy. Lol
SCOTUS has rejected that silly argument as irrelevant a decade or so ago. Plus, at the time, the phrase meant "in good working order". A "well regulated" clock was one that was accurate all day, not just twice a day.
Take a break. All rights can be regulated as none are absolute. Don’t keep repeating NRA talking points.
For sure. If Alaska is like other states, the state police assume some responsibility for training local, city and township police. The state also provides grant assistance for equipment. You’d think the state would put their foot down if they though anything was wrong.
According to Federal Law, it's every able bodied male between 17 and 45, plus Female members of the national guard. Civil Rights laws passed since then would probably remove the upper age restriction, and that of women not in the national guard, and disabled people, but that has yet to see the inside of a Courtroom. So, basically... Everybody. At least all adults.
Yeah, but top executives of a publicly traded company have a duty to the stockholders and appear to me to have committed malfeasance toward shareholders when they inject their personal politics into company business which can only hurt the company in the long run. In the past, most company stock was held by small shareholders and they could organize to oust a CEO or BOD, not anymore. Stock options and mutual funds puts that power in the hands of a few so they pretty much do what they want until they really screw up.
Exactly how is a right regarded as "absolute" within the context of the second amendment? Explain such.
DC v. Heller established that an individual's right to keep and bear arms exists regardless of their participation or lack thereof in any organized militia. It is arguably the most important SCOTUS decision with regards to the 2A in US history. If you're going to discuss this topic, you should know that. It also established that weapons "in common use for legal purposes" cannot be banned, though some lower Courts have sort of ignored that part. However, I predict within a year or two they'll take up a case and reaffirm that on stare decisis (precedent), and all these "assault weapon" and "large magazine" bans will be thrown out the window. Sorry.
