I may be wrong, but I think with the heat from conservative commentators, his base, and the Freedom Caucus forcing Trump to backtrack on his previous veto backtrack, we will now see an earmark for "border security" rather than a "wall." This "border security" earmark will allow Trump to sign a budget. He will tell his base a wall is funded, but the wall will never get built. Trump does not want a wall. He likes cheap labor like other rich people.

I agree with what you say other than the money pit comment. All politicians other than the Rand Paul types love money pits. I gather you work for the Federal government as your comments indicate the reality of how things work in my experience as a retired Fed.

Most undocumented immigrants will continue to enter the US legally and overstay visas. A wall may somewhat increase those opting for that preferred method.
