I am pretty near bankruptcy and have been accused of having low morals. But! I am not morally bankrupt.
Spoken like a true communist. Stalin and Mao would be proud of you. All the dictators have sat up in their graves and are saluting you.
"There comes a point when a man must refuse to answer to his leader if he is also to answer to his own conscience." --Sir Hartley Shawcross
Wrong. My grandfather was a cop for 40 years, and when we spoke of my desire to follow him into the ranks of law enforcement we spoke extensively about what The Job entailed, and the responsibilities intrinsic to it. As part of that we spoke about the Oath, to protect the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic, and he told me about the possibility of being given orders that ran counter to that Oath. He talked about the Nazis and how many of them were prosecuted for war crimes and tried to defend their actions by saying they were just "following orders" and so it wasn't their fault they had done horrific and inhumane things. My grandfather told me that part of being a police officer and wearing that uniform was to refuse to be a mindless automaton and never blindly accept orders or directives, but to evaluate them and consider their legitimacy...and to have the courage to refuse orders or directives you felt were not legitimate. He said if you didn't have the character or integrity to know when to stand your ground in opposition to something then you didn't deserve to wear that badge.
...And the cops who did that failed their communities, their neighbors, and their Oath to the Constitution.
This is a quote my grandfather shared with me as we discussed the realities of being in law enforcement. It always stuck with me. He talked to me about how at the end of the day what really mattered was if you could look yourself in the eye in the mirror. If you couldn't do that, then you'd lost your way.
No, you really don't. That is the most bald-faced rationalization for never having the courage to stand up in defense of freedom I've ever seen.
Interesting point here. First I didn't see where Vegas said he was "okay with that", he just said "Cops would do it again today". I think Vegas is correct. Right or wrong there are cops and others who will do what they are told to do. That is one of the biggest problems with the US today, not enough people willing to do their own thinking.
No amount of gun laws will change this. And, it is your ilk that are continuing to further exasperate the situation. Americans don’t like abusive government and their rights trampled. Promoting this only promotes more tension between the people and government/law enforcement.
I merely noted that if anybody hypothetically supported such being a legitimate position then they were part of the problem. Being casual or dismissive of the possibility shows there is a problem that needs to be addressed, and addressed aggressively.
Back to this again, are you? Well, there was a time I acknowledged your service and even thanked you for it; but at this point I find your service to be an aberration in your character. I defended my country in uniform. I hang my head for no man on that point, and your disgusting disparagement of that fact contributes absolutely nothing positive towards my opinion of you.
Why don't you explain the forum what a communist is? tell us in your own words what you think a communist is if you are capable of credibly explaining it.
