Some Democrats are seeking to make health care a cornerstone issue.

    http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2019/01/bill-de-blasio-wants-in-on-the-health-care-reform-trend.html

New York City will guarantee comprehensive health-care coverage to low-income residents, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Tuesday morning. In a press appearance at Lincoln Hospital, a public facility in the Bronx, de Blasio said the city will spend $100 million to create NYC Care, which the mayor’s office has characterized as a universal health-care plan.

NYC Care will work in two ways. It will expand MetroPlus, the city’s public option, and it will additionally create a program to cover New Yorkers who are otherwise ineligible for insurance — often because they are undocumented immigrants. As the New York Times reported on Tuesday, NYC Care is a hybrid version of health-care reform that combines insurance coverage with direct entitlement spending.

All participants will receive a card and a regular primary-care doctor. In addition to preventative and emergency care, NYC Care will also cover gynecological and obstetric services, mental health care, and substance-abuse treatment. The mayor’s office says there are no plans to raise taxes to cover the program’s costs.

$100,000,000.00 to cover 600,000. Hmm that's less than $150 per person per year, yeah this is going to be a disaster but he can say he's covering illegals.

DeBlasio is an idiot. A total buffoon. His idea will cost New Yorkers billions of dollars a year and cause a max exodus out of the state. He is killing that city.

Yep, they're going to give everyone full health care for $166 each per year.

I can hear the sound of taxpayers packing from the other side of the country.

Are they going to import doctors to meet the increased demand? Or are they going to ration? What doctors will accept 10 cents on the dollar to treat these patients?

I predict it will push up rent prices even higher as sick people crowd in to get the free care.

    I have a question:

He said he'd give it to residents of NYC regardless of immigration status.

So if I live in Jersey can I illegally immigrate to NYC and get it?

When Democrats tell you they are going to cover everyone from anywhere they don't tell you that they don't have enough doctors or hospitals to do that. DMV hospitals are where globalist Democrats want to take Americans. Ration care divided equally for everyone from anywhere paid for by Americans.

Comrade DeBlasio isn't necessarily an idiot but he is deranged and probably a danger to himself and everyone in and around NYC. This plan is insane and will likely serve to see him removed.

    Wow.

The country needs Medicare for ALL, and the Dems are pimping health care for illegals? (In NYC and Cali.)

The only word that comes to mind is "obscene."

Sounds like this is evidence Obamacare failed.

Much like the promise that civility would return once dems were elected.

I examine mens prostate so they dont die.

I like assuring people dont die.

    Its a burden I bear.

As I've delivered infants into this world.

As I've seen people out of this world.

Fascinating that this repeated assertion by Republicans that there are not enough doctors to supply even minimal care for a significant number of Americans.

The USA doesn't even try, at least the Republicans don't!

Whereas, in most of the First World health services, provide at least basic medical care to ALL citizens, men, women and children, for half the costs of the TOTAL spending of USA.

Oh well, maybe America Make America Great someday, instead of just the billionaires and Defense Contractors!

Single state MFA cannot work, and there were numerous blockades put up in VT.

The Cali plan is a disaster in the making, the NYC stuff is just more insanity making that place a bigger mess.

But MFA polls at the top of the Dem voter wish list, so the Donks are gonna play political games which do little good & much harm. (See the ACA.)

As with sane immigration policies, we'll get nationwide MFA when the oligarchy controlling both disgusting parties permits it, and not a second sooner.

Democrats insist on the financial dictatorship over the land, mind you these are the same people who try to speak against Authoritarianism. I think to be truly accurate, they're only against the opposition being in power.

    And we backed off.

    https://www.politico.com/story/2014/12/single-payer-vermont-113711

Advocates of a “Medicare for all” approach were largely sidelined during the national Obamacare debate. The health law left a private insurance system in place and didn’t even include a weaker “public option” government plan to run alongside more traditional commercial ones.

So single-payer advocates looked instead to make a breakthrough in the states. Bills have been introduced from Hawaii to New York; former Medicare chief Don Berwick made it a key plank of his unsuccessful primary race for Massachusetts governor.

Vermont under Shumlin became the most visible trailblazer. Until Wednesday, when the governor admitted what critics had said all along: He couldn’t pay for it.
