Hard to prove, but watching his antics for the past 2 years is certainly indicative of a lack of compassion for others.

You think his rhetoric is accurate? Blaming Democrats, terrorists streaming in, security crisis, identify with those out of work?

The Wall/War on Terror/FBI/Homeland Security are Discretionary spending, whereas most welfare programs are Mandatory spending.

Poll: National Security Tops Economy on List of Americans ...
    https://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2017/06/21/poll...
A new survey by Unisys finds national security — war and terrorism — has become the top security concern of Americans, so named by 68 percent of respondents. Cybersecurity was not far behind, with 56 percent calling it a top issue

    ------------------------

If We The People are so concerned about National Security, then how come the Chinese are paying the bills?

    In FY2019, near $1 trillion will be borrowed to fund the following Departments/Agencies;

    Dept of Defense
    HSS
    Education
    VA
    Homeland security
    Energy Dept
    NNSA
    HUD
    State Dept
    NASA
    and many more Agencies

Thus, how much borrowing relates to National Security?

    Answer; Well over $100 billion

    HOW TO COLLECT?

If I were President, I would shut down Homeland Security until Congress agrees to raise taxes to fund said Agency.

My belief; If you're not willing to pay the price for security, then you don't deserve security.

By the way, NO WALL if not funded by the tax payers.

I can break through steel slats in minutes with a cutting torch and a chain and a vehicle to yank

You will need people to watch the wall anyway.. So why build a wall for them to watch??

6 people on the terrorist watchlist were interecepted at the southern border in two years.. 6

Trump wants almost 6 Billion dollars to stop 6 people

The Democrats are being reviled by the Trump fans because of the shutdown ... because they do not want to approve the $ 5 billion Trump demand for the Wall ... but they forget that the Republicans did the same with Obama and Clinton when they had the majority in Congress.
So... I have to ask, why in the last 2 years where Trump's Republicans had the majority, even no approval for this 5 billion USD for the Wall came about ... strange, eh?

The really ridiculous issue is the liarry of Trump because of the border situation itself .... worse and more vicious than he can no one lie!
The Democrats are being reviled by the Trump fans because of the shut down ... because they do not want to approve the $ 5 billion Trump demand for the Wall ... but they forget that the Republicans did the same with Obama and Clinton when they had the majority in Congress.

Nobody disputes that the US have the right to control its borders ... even if the Trump followers always maintain the opposite in their stupidity. The only problem is that the US is not only in full controlof their borders all the time, but is getting better and better for 15 years. Fifteen years ago, nearly 1.5 million illegal people were arrested at the border by the Border Control and US Customs Service ... now there are only around 100,000 left ... all without the wall the Trump wants to have done! Totally ignored and concealed by trump and his followers!
The next fact is that there is already a wall on the border everywhere where a wall makes sense! Totally ignored and concealed by Trump and his followers!
Another fact is that far more illegal immigrants are being picked up at US airports, on the border with Canada and at seaports, than at the border with Mexico ... and it is also true that more people are becoming illegal immigrants, because their visa expired and they stay illegal as those who try to cross the border from Mexico!

Trump also does not tire of claiming that these illegal immigrants pose a massive increase in crime. The fact is not only that Trump can't prove that with any numbers ... no, the official figures of the responsible US authorities prove even the opposite!

Why is the idiotic and superfluous wall? Because Trump has promised them in the election campaign and absolutely wants to enforce ... so purely political without any sense and benefit!

And not to forget ... why should Congress grant 5 billion? According to Trump, should the wall not be paid by Mexico, eh?

Just playing hardball like Trump does, thus, no security if We The People are not willing to pay for it.

According to my calculations, raising the top tax rate by 5 percent would generate enough revenues to offset our national security related expenditures.

Probably a good point but why not try to stop it? Apparently the dems are willing to hobble the economy based on conjecture when it comes to climate change but not willing to do anything with a known problem.

Funny how this crisis just happened, when he first got into office we didn't hear anything about a wall.

Why don't you stop it at the point where it is actually coming in and that is points of entry.

Why would you do that when there are plenty of conservatives on welfare as well.

So the people dying trying to cross at areas that are not points of entry like the 300+ intercepted where the little boy died is not a problem. Got it.

He campaigned on it. The Congress promised action on it when he signed the Omnibus bill. They lied so you wonder why he has dug in now?

I don't recall "Congress" making any such promise.

There may have been some vague reassurance.

I suspect that someone finally got it through Trump's thick head that he was going to lose the GOP Congress and that therefore his wall gimmick would be dead forever.

I suspect it too him two or three months to figure that out. He's not very bright, and he never looks ahead or thinks long term.

If your post reflects the line coming out of right wing blogs and Fox and Friends, this is a tacit admission of defeat.

After all, if the next default meme is to blame Congress for not doing Trump's bidding, then there is not path to a wall.

Besides, Trump told McConnell what he would sign, and McConnell delivered.

Trump is the one who went back on his word. Something you don't do to Mitch McConnell.

So, with Trump lying in public in various obvious ways (which doesn't hurt him with his base, because they're used to it), and going back on his word is something he has done all his life.

    Trump can't be trusted.

He claimed yesterday that the White House has submitted a detailed proposal to Congress on border security including a wall.

I have no idea whether this "comprehensive proposal" actually exists. I suspect not.
