Define "open borders." Then define the Border Patrol and ICE. Or are they a figment of our imagination.

First, there are already 12 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. The wall is hardly an issue with them and they account for all those dollars you are sprouting. They also account for all those crimes Trump was talking about Tuesday. They also account for all the crimes recorded in your extensive research.

Second, the issue is, will a medieval solution to a 21st Century problem work? The Democrats and many experts say no, the wall won't work. 21st Century technology, increased aircraft, increased vehicles, and an increase in border patrol agents will work far better and cost less.

Democrats support border security. They do not support a medieval wall.

Comparing a wall around the Vatican or a wall around a mansion to a 2,000 mile border wall is ludicrous.

Throwing numbers around like you were doing is just as silly as Trump and Pence lying about numbers of terrorists and criminals coming across the border. Trump spent nearly all of his time Tuesday detailing all the crimes committed by illegal aliens. You and he are making the extraordinary conclusion that Trump's wall will solve all these problems.

It won't. But Trump is holding Americans hostage over his wall. Why? His base wants the stupid wall.

As proven in the 2018 midterms, his base doesn't win general elections. Trump is too stupid to realize that.

Why is Trump doing this? There is only one reason. He wants to create havoc in Washington as Mueller is bearing down on him. Trump needs a distraction. What good will that do? One would have to ask Trump. Blind revenge is one possible answer. That fits Trump's psyche.

That's mostly a result of a lack of quality control in the black market. Allow legit businesses to service the demand (which will never go away no matter how many laws you pass), and 90% of that goes away. I'd bet most fentanyl ODs in the past few years were to individuals who neither wanted nor requested fentanyl in what they thought was their normal heroin dosages. With corporate QC, that kind of **** would never happen.

Study what pot did in CA. See how many cities refuse to let anybody open stores. See how taxes became rampant. And what happened to Pot,. Ca regulates it to death.

 

@Sandy Shanks, while it has been some years since i walked over the Canadian border and back to the USA, They do a lot of checking. More than our side, the Canadians gave me the most grief.

I have entered Mexico but decades ago. Then the border traffic was god awful. My cars were not checked much at all. But why do they now check cars much more completely? Think the authorities are full of crap?

Most of the marijuana is grown in the US and has been for years now. Mainly in the pacific northwest. And no one who wants a wall does not also want the borders tightened up even further.

 

Well build the Wall then see if anything changes and this would of course require check points to be more careful about checking for drugs and smuggled persons, but is ONLY 5.7 billion dollars so why not give the funding its covered by more money via the NAFTA re-negotiated terms most likely easily enough or one could take on a $1 per wheel transit fee for vehicles leaving Mexico to apply to it.

Why not separate that issue and fund the government? Remember, Dems ARE willing to fund enhanced border security......but Don refuses to compromise on the issue despite it being unpopular with the majority of Americans.
