Associate (Supreme Court) Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg deserves our sympathy--and our prayers--as she recovers from cancer surgery; and this, regardless of what her political views may be. Yet, as I write this, she has missed three consecutive days of oral arguments (today would be the fourth), due to her illness. If she is simply unable to hear these arguments, then she is unable to do her job; and the honorable thing, it seems to me, would be to step down, and allow herself to be replaced. It is my understanding, however, that she refuses to do this, as she does not want to be replaced by a Donald Trump appointee. This, in my opinion--if it is true--is simply dishonorable. Comments?
I agree but dont know what the laws of the court are. Most employers have disability a person can go on while recovering. At minimum I believe she shouldn't be able to vote on any legislation she couldn't attend in person since any vote she has one way or the other would be tarnished since her questions about the side she doesn't agree with could not be heard.
She is reading the transcripts and reviewing each case. But your partisan desire to see her step down is noted. Btw, she will sit out next week as well.
Even if she can read transcripts at home, she can't ask questions and participate in the cases. Her ability to perform her job is greatly reduced.
Not gonna happen. And impeachment is impossible. She was also just found free of cancer and is returning
She’s not attending the sessions now. And she’s been seen napping in public. It’s time for her to go.
any different than your partisan desire to personally destroy a longtime public servant with an impeccable record to keep him off the court?
That's why it's a lifetime appointment because that does not matter. She can still voice her opinion and rulings, she can also have other ask questions.
Ginsburg could be removed from the bench if dementia could be proved but other than that, death or retirement are the only options.
