It isn’t at record levels. 8 years ago a dem congess and Obama had it at record levels...over a trillion...we are far from that. Why do you feel the need to make thing up?

deficit in 2018 was over 800 billion. It was higher 8 years ago, because we were in the worst recession in 80 years, and revenues plummeted as a result. Having almost a trillion dollar deficit, when the economy is doing well, is gross incompetence on the republicans. But, that's what they do. Repubs LOVE them some debt and deficits. It's why they increase the national debt WAY more than democrats do.

    No we're not.

"For the first quarter of the fiscal year, the deficit of $317 billion..."
Now, multiply $317 billion by four.

According Tito the Dept of Tres it was 779 Billion for 2018. I don’t disagree we need to cut spending drastically. We had over a trillion dollar deficit multi years under obama and a dem congress. The GOP has cut it every year since taking congress, but last year

Yes, and when you do, you get a deficit over $1.2 trillion. And that's if the economy doesn't go South.

The economy is what cut the deficit. Republicans LOVE them some debt and deficit. They only bitch about it when there is a DEM president. Repubs increase the national debt at far greater percentage than democrats do. Repubs had 2 years to pass budget bills that would not lead to deficit spending. They chose not to, because they don't care about deficit spending.

Their silence concerning Steve King's racist blather is deafening. Deficits are only a problem when a black president is in power.

and I corrected you, with citation.

they had nothing to do with it. All measures to stimulate the economy were done in 2008/2009. The GOP passed no legislation at all that had any effect on the economy.

    You corrected the Tresurary Department?

The economy was stimulated in 08/09...we got double digit unemployment then and new taxes

Is "over a trillion" close to $1.2 trillion? Yes, yes it is.

I corrected you. You didn't provide a citation, I did.

obviously. Deep recessions tend to cause high unemployment. After it peaked in 2011, UE was cut in half to under 5%, when the economy was handed off to trump. So, as I keep having to point out, deficit spending, when the economy is doing well, is grossly incompetent governing. But this is what republicans do. They LOVE them some debt and deficits. It's why they raise the national debt at a far greater percentage than democrats.

because of the republican caused recession, that is true.

But 833 billion is pretty close to a trillion. Having such a high deficit when the economy is doing well, is gross incompetence by the republicans.

I did too...I said it’s from the Treauary Department. I’m not take their word over yours. The debt been growing at a slower rate under trump then the prior admin, but we can certainly do better. Have you written your congressman about tackling entitlement reform?

I don’t like deficit spending either, I’m all for cutting spending

Republican recession? The Dems had congress for two years leading to the recession and two years after.

According to the Trasury Dept it wasn’t that high, but I agree we need to cut spending

provide a link to the treasury department then.
It isn't my word, lol. You were shown what the deficit is. And again, trying to compare debt accumulation of a president who was handed the worst recession in 80 years, to a president who was handed a booming economy is beyond silly.
You certainly don't seem to be against it. I don't recall any posts or threads from you calling out republicans for spending like drunken teen age girls the past 2 years while they controlled congress and the white house.

I know. We've been through this already in other threads. The recession was caused by republicans. NOTHING the dems did while in power starting in 2007, contributed to it.

provide a link to the treasury department. I gave you a link showing it was 833 billion. It stands unrefuted.
