DHS personnel are non-essential? WTF?

 

Totally depends on their employer. Some contractors are paid, some arent. Part of their employment contract so not like its a surprise.

Isnt it ironic most contractors have nothing to do until the govt creates work for them? It takes a whole govt to create thousands of otherwise unnecessary jobs. Sorry, I meant nonessential.

Hardship. I have a friend who works for a Pennsylvania Health Authority and they are within a week of not being able to provide services and are working without pay.

Uber is always hiring and furloughed workers qualify for unemp. Talented & intelligent federal employees should be smart enough to earn a little side money.

You know who's really hurting? Families where the whole clan feeds from the govt teat. One of the side effects of rampant nepotism.

 

If theyre still working, theyre considered essential. Try to keep up.

 

They are not getting paid, because they are considered non-essential.

He never said Mexico would pre-pay for a wall. We need to build the wall before we can know who paid for it.

When Trump caves to the Dems and re-opens Govt without his great wall being built, I will be sure to come in here and tell you all HA HA.

The question is, how will you polish that big turd into Trump being a great business man that is setting up the Dems or something ridiculous like that. LOL

 

It is an inconvenience for those who's paychecks are late- but they aren't lost. In the meantime, many are indeed on vacation. The downside here is that the people not getting paid should be none other than those responsible. Trump has, as promised during his campaign, taken none of the $400,000 salary he is owed; has instead donated it to various agencies such as the department of education. Congress on the other hand, has 71 members (out of 535) who have asked that their pay be suspended or donated.

Worse than that is the fact that this is a political tactic; the dems are so in fear of giving Trump a win of any kind, anywhere, that they place that above all else. The president invited members of congress to a bi-partisan lunch at the whitehouse today, to discuss and negotiate. Republicans attended, but not a single invited democrat showed up.

Sooner or later, the public perception is likely to swing heavily against the democrats, and they will have no one to honestly blame but themselves.

 

Subscription to his golf course increased from $100,000 per year to $200,000 per year for all members immediately following his election victory. Trump has used his golf courses and hotels for business meetings and charged the tax payers for these meetings. His salary is insignificant compared to the increase in revenue at his golf course and hotels since the election

 

So you are saying, that even though he does not manage those operations any more, that having people in charge who know how to raise the revenue is some kind of evil thing??

Is he forcing anybody to become members? Do you think that those who pay the fees can't afford it and are being forced to take food of the table for their families?
Is that different than Bill Clinton being paid $750,000.00 for a 40 minute speech and his sponsor suddenly getting a state department approval that had been stalled for years?
