I do believe there's a disparity in our justice system and I think we should look at it and address it more than point fingers and say that's racist.

I think the best thing you can do for the good fight is don't talk about it. You come off as a racist black lives matter separatist. That alienates people.

You should probably learn how to be persuasive, you would probably inform a lot more people and do a lot more good then lecturing and preaching. Nobody likes being lectured to and told how privileged they are and how white people are the devil and all this stupid ****.

I didn't pay much attention to this incident ... at first I thought the media were telling the truth: high school kids taunted a Native American.

I should have been smarter. Once again, don't believe some "gotcha" incident until some time has passed, and the truth has emerged.
An acquaintance of mine summed it up:


"Well, I guess it's really all in the open now, perhaps more dramatically than ever before. All the videos are now available, so anyone can see what really happened at the Lincoln Memorial. Which was, to be precise but brief-

1. It was a bunch of mostly White Catholic high school boys, there waiting for their bus to go home after attending the March for Life, and not bothering anyone
2. A small group of a really crazy sect of "Black Hebrew Israelites" were there and started screaming all kinds of horrible insults at the boys for no reason other than they were White (and maybe that some were wearing MAGA hats)
3. The boys did not react nastily, instead started doing some innocent high school chants to drown out the abuse being screamed at them
4. A small group of Native American protestors then showed up and one of them borrowed a drum and marched into the group of boys, beating the drum and singing, until he got right up to one of the boys
5. The boy didn't move, made no aggressive moves at all, smiled at the man to show he had no bad intent
6. This went on for some minutes before the boys were called off to their bus
7. No video shows any shouts from the boys of anything, racist or demeaning or anything else

A short section of video with no sound was broadcast, and was reported as the boy deliberately disrespecting the right of a "tribal elder" to march up the steps of the Memorial. It was also said that the boys had been abusing the minorities present with shouts of "Build the Wall" and other things.

A media and Twitter tsunami of condemnation and hatred arose in record time and washed over the news, with all kinds of people and some public figures (including a Jesuit priest) accepting the false account instantly and calling for measures including expulsion, doxing of everyone, beatings, and in one case, from a journalist, death for the kids and their parents. (He did get fired over that, thank heavens.)

The Indian man made a broadcast claiming to have been there to protect the people and act as a shield against possible violence, but also claimed to boys got in his way, when the videos show him marching into them. He also claims to be a Marine veteran of "Vietnam War times", but at the age of 64, would have only been 17 years old when the last Marine units left Viet Nam, which means he would have had to join the Marines at barely 17 to get through training in time to be shipped to Viet Nam before the departure of the Marine units. This timeline is a lot more than questionable, and veterans are now checking into whatever military record can be found for him.

All kinds of harassment and threats have been made against the students (including some from the school who weren't even there) and their families and the school. The local bishop and school authorities immediately promised an investigation and penalties for any bad behavior by the students, in an apparent panic over the initial report.

Now all the actual facts have come out, and a few news sources have said that it seems "the situation was complex", no apologies from anyone. The kids and their families have been trashed very publicly, many of them are at least upset, some are very fearful.

And yet people say there is no "false news". And it's all those hateful people on the Far Right who are the problem.

This is how awful things have become, and the media is bankrupt, hardly to be trusted for anything. The bubbling lava of hatred of the PC and Leftist agitators has become truly dangerous to all of society. Anyone who somehow wanders into the crosshairs of their rage becomes the victim of their unreasoning hatred, no matter what the facts are.

I remember some years ago getting fooled by a right-wing "gotcha" -- about some teacher who was supposedly fired for mentioning Jesus in class. I was getting all riled up about that ... until a few days later, I read the other side: this guy had been distributing evangelical recruitment literature in class. Sorry, that's a no-no, and he was an idiot.

I hope the decent and honest Left -- and it does exist -- will repudiate the dishonest tactics of the crazies. Same for the Right and their crazies.

I tune out most of the fake news coming from the left
