Just pick the one that's most accurate for you. If none are reasonably accurate, this poll isn't for you
Paladin, I could not vote because I disagree and agree with President Trump on a variety of issues, nonetheless, I agree with him bringing U.S. Troops home, although "American" presence will remain in Syria and the region through MERCs such as Blackwater, etc.
I like Trump better than anybody I see in the entire Democrat Party today. Of course, I voted for him in 2016, and, considering the wanna-be, socialist DRECK that infests the ranks of the Democrats now, I'd vote for him again.... And, I am very much in favor of pulling our military out of any of our current overseas adventures, that have served no purpose other than getting our military personnel killed and wounded, and, wasting hundreds of billions of dollars for no good purpose whatever. So, my choice among your poll choices was a relatively easy one.
I believe we have to let the Syrians fight it out among themselves but we should be willing to supply air strikes on groups like ISIS and Al Qaeda. No country has ever been welcomed in Afghanistan and after 17 years we need to let go and quit nation building. All through American history we have been warned about involving ourselves in wars and the internal affairs of countries; that no good will become of it.
Calling Trump a snake is an insult to reptiles everywhere. But, credit where credit is due we should always bring troops home if we can and Trump is doing that. If ISIS resurges we should send them right back and I hope Trump will have the mental toughness to do so but we are getting ahead of ourselves, the man deserves his chance to do right this one time.
I tuned into one of the CSPAN channels and I saw that they were voting on an amendment, to withdraw troops from Syria, but they wanted to continue operations with Israel in Syria. EVERYONE voted for it [to fight together with Israel in Syria]. Therefore we'll be at war but not at war as far as the public is concerned. Of course I could be completely wrong and it wasn't Syria but Yemen.
Donald Trump is a typical contractor. He would fit right in with my colleagues. The guy is growing on me. But his policies, his policies are great! I really like what he actually does. The icing on the cake is the reactions to him. This is by far the most entertaining time in US politics in my lifetime. Watching the disintegration of the Democrat party is more fun than watching the disintegration of the soviet union. I am really looking forward to the 2020 election. The reactions to the 2016 election was some of the most entertaining TV I have ever watched.
In all my relatively insignificant activism on the state level - I'm ,none da less, honored to consider 'ride or die' status w/ my President - D J Trump, lol
So if you neither like him or dislike him, any opinion on whether we should get out of the ME or remain there forever, is of no significance? ha ha I neither like him nor dislike him. Now, I liked Pres. Kennedy. And I liked Pres. Carter. Ike too. I am only watching to see what trump does, and how many of his campaign promises(that by the way, are positions he has held for years)he will try to keep. But this is how I have judged most presidents in my long life. Along with what they did that really represented the best interests of the american people, the average american. Call me old fashioned. The US should stop waging war for perpetual peace. And stop with this history of regime change, that basically puts us breaking the same international law that our more intelligent ancestors helped to write right after the end of WW2. We do have genuine, important national security issues, and none of them involve the middle east, but primarily China, and to a much less degree, Russia. And this is where our treasure and attention should be focused. It would not be as profitable for the industrial complex that sustains itself by the US waging wars. But our national debt is such that borrowing to wage unintelligent wars is highly destructive, fiscally. It is irresponsible. So, leave the middle east, and this would go a long way in the reduction of islamic extremism over the long haul. Meddling and militarily occupying the middle east will insure radical islam will continue to flourish and even grow. The common sense involved is note worthy.
Every time we've pulled our troops out of someplace before winning the war and before winning the peace, we've come to regret it. This is a bad decision. And considering the number of times in the last 30 years we've had to send troops back in to the middle east, keeping a large contingent there makes a lot of sense. Honestly, we should have negotiated a 99 year lease on a large piece of property in Iraq but between the Iranian & Syrian borders and built an enormous military base there. That would have prevented any rise of ISIS, any moves by Turkey, any moves by Iran to intervene in Syria, etc. This whole Syria mess is entirely Obama's fault, starting with him withdrawing troops from Iraq and then following with him supporting Islamic rebels against Bashar Assad's secular rule. Now Iran is trying to get a foothold in northern Iraq so that it can gain direct access to Syria and Syria's Mediterranean ports. Withdrawing troops before it's time is always a bad idea. We kept troops in Germany until recently. We still have troops in Japan. We had a 99 year lease on a port in the Philippines. Trivia question: Name three countries we're not at war with. Follow-up thought: You cannot make nice with radical Islam. The Muslims consider "niceness" to be a sign of weakness. It does not encourage them to make peace with you, it encourages them to push for more. The more you give in, the more bold they become, until you've surrendered everything you are for everything they want. The only way to deal with radical Islam is with overwhelming force. Muslims recognize strength and respect it and will stop fighting you if you show yourself to be stronger than them. Islam, as a whole, is a religion of bullies, and the only way to get a bully to stop picking on you is to stand up and fight him. Hitler admired Islam as a religion because it was so much more militant than the peace-loving Christianity, and regretted that Islam's advance through Europe was stopped at the gates of Vienna.
I hate Trump with every fiber of my being, and I dont think bringing ALL the troops home is the best idea. ISIS still has tens of thousands of fighters. They are not defeated. Stay till the job is done. But it certainly doesnt require the level of troops we deploy today.
Why should we spend US blood and treasure fighting ISIS? They are a minuscule threat to the US. In any case the job will never be done. There is no lack of fanatical Muslims in the world.
America's sons and daughters in uniform are not getting killed, traumatized, burned & mutilated far, far away fighting ISIS. Trump has made it perfectly clear that Americans are being sacrificed thousands of miles from home "...for Israel". Not only are Americans occupying hostile territory throughout that volatile Region. Americans are actually stationed in Israel to "...die for Israel."(2) and will be put under Israeli command in the event of hostilities Israel is working hard to provoke. It could only be through the machinations of Israel's near omnipotent lobbies, "Christian Zionists" & related disloyal elements in US Government that America's G.I.s have been reduced to serving as Netanyahu's pro bono cannon fodder. At least Netanyahu has honestly articulated the true nature of the US - Israeli "alliance": Netanyahu: “Once we squeeze all we can out of the United States, it can dry up and blow away” http://web.archive.org/web/20060512...pecial_Reports/092105Madsen/092105madsen.html (1) "TRUMP: U.S. TROOPS WILL REMAIN IN THE MIDDLE EAST FOR ISRAEL" https://www.jpost.com/Middle-East/Trump-US-troops-will-remain-in-the-Middle-East-for-Israel-572997 EXCERPT "We have reached a point where we don't have to stay in the Middle East. One reason to stay is Israel," U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday evening with an exclusive interview with the Washington Post."CONTINUED (2) "US Commander: ‘US Troops Prepared to Die for Israel’ in War against Syria, Hezbollah" https://www.mintpressnews.com/israe...a-harbinger-of-war-on-syria-hezbollah/238768/ EXCERPT "In addition, Israel has been laying the groundwork for an invasion of Syria since last year and is largely responsible for the current conflict in Syria that has raged on for seven years. Israel’s current push to invade Syria is also based on flimsy evidence suggesting that Iran is establishing bases in Syria to target Israel.
Your blatantly pro War Post is so replete with outright falsehoods, racist generalizations & flawed comparisons that I don't know where to begin. The overwhelming majority of respondents to this poll and America in general want to withdraw America's G.I.s from that volatile Region where their primary mission is to make the region safe for Israeli regional hegemony. Trump went so far as to even admit that US Troops are staying in the region only for Israel(1). Of course neither Trump's son nor his billionaire Israeli son-in-law run the risk of being killed, burned, mutilated or traumatized for life while occupying lands where they are neither needed nor wanted. Predictably, the other individual who wants Americans the ensure Israeli regional hegemony is Trump's puppet master(2), Netanyahu(3). Netanyahu, too has made his sentiments concerning the US - Israeli "alliance" clear: Netanyahu: “Once we squeeze all we can out of the United States, it can dry up and blow away” http://web.archive.org/web/20060512...pecial_Reports/092105Madsen/092105madsen.html So, how many more $Trillions & thousands of loyal American lives should America waste so that a thankless Israel can attack its neighbors with impunity and continue the world's oldest & most ruthless, foreign funded Occupation in history? Trump further showed that he is following Netanyahu’s marching orders with the extremist speech about Iran on Friday, essentially repeating all the Israeli propaganda lines against Iran and burning whatever bridges remained toward a meaningful diplomatic approach. *shrugs* And it doesn't even occur to you that your notes 2 & 3 are in direct conflict with each other? And land is just land. It doesn't need or want anyone. It has no feelings in the matter whatsoever. "This land is my land." Well, for how long? For as long as you can hold it. When you can't hold it anymore, it becomes someone else's land. The Muslims invaded Spain and held it for 700 years before the Spanish successfully drove them out again. So whose land is it? It's been Spain's now for 500+ years, can we say it's Spain's? The Arabs couldn't hold the land in the middle east, the UK wanted a place for the Jews to go where they'd be (more or less) safe without settling them all in the UK, and the entirety of the Ottoman Empire fell into the UK's hands post-WWI. What better place for a homeland for the Jews than the ancient territory of Israel? And so it is. The fact that the Muslims are still pissed off about it 100 years later is really the Muslims' problem, isn't it? Anti-Semitism isn't a political position, it's just bigotry.
This thread has to do with the unwillingness of most Americans to have US Troops stationed in the Mid East forever, not the land from which Palestine's native residents have been ejected by brutal and grasping foreign Zionist Occupiers. Furthermore, my excerpts #2 and #3 do not contradict each other ""Netanyahu also called for maintaining the U.S. deployment."(1) means that Netanyahu wants US Troops to stay in Israel & in the Region and since Netanyahu pulls Trump's strings,("We have reached a point where we don't have to stay in the Middle East. One reason to stay is Israel," ) (2) those same Americans are not going anywhere except where Right Wing Israelis want them. I don't know your nationality but I'm sure you could see why no loyal American wants to sacrifice even more young American lives and resources so far away for such a thankless Israeli regime.
