I spent a whole ten minutes looking at the Grand Canyon before I got bored. I did see a snake though. It was far more interesting.
Spent a couple mo. in E Europe in my late teens one summer and can still remember this tall, dark & handsome Romanian lad all excited about making sure that I got a chance to go to this special novelty restaurant that they had in Aradia. The 'Golden Arches' were a bit of a letdown, lol. For this handsome lad, I would wager that he'd like to visit a 'buckle' or 'Gap' jeans outlet 1st thing, lol...
I saw the Grand Canyon via the Grand Canyon Skywalk. I admit, it was a fairly spectacular view. I've never seen anything like it, but yeah ten minutes is enough.
I'll have to go with Monticello, hands down. I've been enthralled with the founders & their wives since grade school, esp. TJ, lol.
When I went NYC, it was a road trip from the Jersey Shore, I went to Manhattan, saw a lot of stuff I recognised that we have in London, I was 14, this was November 2001. Took a wrong turn in Jersey City, that was ghetto.
Did U meet 'Snooky' & 'Paulie D' lol. yeh, 'the JS' 2nd only to the 'Redneck Rivera' for culture shock. The JS is marginally friendlier than in Manhattan - only cus they're drunk, high or working on getting so. I'm always amazed at the number of I-talians that flock there, lol.
Probably, I went back when I was 17, got hit on, that was 2004. It was where I was staying in NJ, Seaside Heights, like a couple of blocks from the boardwalk. Got back to England, saw the show, saw store owners I met, almost fell off my chair outta shock. I mean, at the time (fresh off the boat) I'd never heard of it, to me, it was just the hangout where all the kids went.
No way would I even get onto it never mind for ten minutes, me with my vertigo and all that! I have a recurring dream where I'm stuck somewhere high and wondering how I'm gonna get down; then when I finally realise the only way is to jump down , I suddenly wake up hyperventilating.
I definitely do not recommend it if you have vertigo! Probably going to Grand Canyon National Park would be better. The Skywalk is owned by an Indian tribe so that is there own little piece of the Grand Canyon tourist dollar.
I'll hear nothing negative about the Jersey Shore but then again, being married to someone from the mid-Jersey shore and being of Italian-American extraction, I guess it's my natural habitat.
I want to go back to see the Pacific Northwest. (Oregon and Washington) From like Eugene, OR (for near by Springfield, OR), Portland, OR, and Seattle, WA. Saw this Kurt Cobain documentary yesterday, reminded me of how much I wanted to see this part of the country.
