You do to be accurate in your original comment. You don't and you hug the post-truthers. Clearly you're not able to offer a mature argument. No problem. I'm sure you're great at tiddly-winks. God bless and goodbye!
Ownership of a firearm neither poses a risk, nor violates the rights of anyone. Rather it is the use of a firearm that has the potential to do such. That is a simple fact. A firearm that is not in use poses no more risk to anyone than a parked motor vehicle.
Ownership is regulated and intentionally leaving a firearm unattended in public is a crime in most states. So yes, they are more dangerous then a parked. car.
Oh, thank you. What sound, rational reason is there for me to accept this? What sound, rational reason is there for me to accept this? Define "confiscate" - when I shoot someone in self-defense, the police 'confiscate' the gun as evidence. Why should it be destroyed? 1: What sound, rational reason is there for me to accept this? 2: At a loss of 1000 guns per day, in 500 years there will still be 175,000,000 gun in the US. Criminals acquire their guns illegally- how can you be right? What sound, rational reason is there for me to accept this?
Various governments at the city, county, state, and even federal level, believe that certain substances such as marijuana present such a significant danger to the public, that they cannot be allowed under any circumstances, and a full-scale military-type operation must be waged against the distribution of such substances, regardless of how many lives are negatively impacted by such. Does the government believing something make it right by default of government believing it? In the above situation, how is an unattended firearm anymore dangerous than a parked motor vehicle, when both are apparently equally accessible to those that would misuse them for criminal purposes.
You can't overcome demand with laws. As less guns become available and their price increases, the black market will pick up the slack and the profit. Guns are not hard to make. All that will happen is machining will become as much a criminal skill as chemistry and computer programming. If anything, guns will become harder for LE to trace because black market factories are not going to stamp numbers on their products. Guns may actually become cheaper after black market factories have made up for the equipment start-up costs and fine tune manufacturing. Additionally, this will likely accelerate the private developement of 3D printing.
Before coming to the US, I made several guns before the age of 17 (I worked in my uncle’s machine shop) as well as replacement gun parts. Admiringly, most of the guns I made were of the zip gun variety (we called them guns made to get guns), but I did make a working Sten MKII from plans (pre internet BTW) the UK dropped to resistance fighters all over Europe during WWII along with plans for other guns like the Liberator. I wasn’t alone. I also, made propellant and primers for reloading ammo. The only skill I didn’t acquire was making reliable springs, but those were easy to acquire. In the Philippines there are many BK market manufacturering ops that produce guns today... easily viewed on YouTube. While many guns can be made from Home Depot materials and hand tools, adding a drill press, lathe, and small CNC mill (all can be acquired from Harbor Freight for well under $2,500, can make the job far easier. Existing guns can be reverse engineered and in some cases, downloaded from the net. CNC instructions, BTW, are available for AR Lowers. Will these match the volume of commercial manufacturers? No, but then given 1/2 billion guns are in civilian hands now, no ban can hope to eliminate but a fraction of them. Then, easier than building them is smuggling them (as we did in NI) and what better avenue than along with drugs where guns provide security for drug smuggling?
Ta You don't know what you are talking about. You have a right to your own opinion, but like a person looking at a blue sky then denying it is real, You're wrong about marijuana and gun control . Pot will be and is legalized and the NRA will be found to be a criminal un American treasonist organization.
Nor does yourself. Does the government believing something make it right by default of government believing it?
Sure now and Trump will be indicted for Treason. I am sure the DEMS would like both to happen, take out a duly elected president and disenfrancize their political opposition. No risk in that. Tell me, under what vehicle will the NRA be designated as a terrorist organization; I'd like to know how it would be done. Are there a lot of flying pigs where you are from? That land safely?
Tell that to the family that was killed by the drunk driver who had 5 previous arrests for driving drunk.
We regulate both the operator and the instrument. We do that with a plethora of " items and occupations and operators. " We are even restricted by vehicle class and operation because we've determined it's in the publics best Exactly. interest to both special license operators and larger vehicles. I don't see gun at all cost advocates whining about that.
You are the one who brought up cars rich. Let's not go down the road of no gun regulation at all because of shall not be infringed....ok?
