The woman has certain obligations when she's pregnant. You might see this story, a pregnant woman was charged with fetal endangerment: pregnant woman driving under the influence charged with fetal endangerment
I say it should of been the parents choice as I am pro-choice... the parents choose... that is the way it should be
I think we just hit a new low in “blame the woman “ game. What next? Carrying signs outside of pubs with “only evil women cause FASD”? Blaming women who give birth to microcephalic children for being bitten by mosquitoes? What about syphilis? Oops that is right - you don’t want women to have sex either
It's ABSOLUTELY not a function of poverty. Third world peasants have more nutritious diets than these (exceedingly well fed) First World women. And it has nothing to do with prenatal education/care, because this information is everywhere. It's like knowing you don't smoke or drink when pregnant. Even a halfwit knows that a nutritious diet is crucial if there's any chance you might be pregnant, or might be pregnant in the future. What on earth are you talking about rights, for?
FoxHastings said: ↑ The sort of person who may not have access to prenatal care/education or be able to afford it or healthy food. They are called humans( that "precious life" Anti-Choicers like to go on about)...and they make mistakes. Not eating properly is not a crime so no one should be punished for it by having their rights taken away.. , Yes, if you know what poverty is you'd know it affects what food you have access to....and many people in America don't have access to healthy food. There are poor people in the US even if you don't want to admit it. No, not everyone knows what happens during pregnancy, witness those Anti-Choicers who believe the fetus isn't even connected to the woman it's in !!! See, lots of Uneducated walking around.. ...
We're talking only of Neural Tube Defects, yes? Which are preventable via a nutritious diet. And who do we blame, if not the woman who chose instead to eat sausage and cheesy mac - instead fresh vegetables, pulses, whole grains, and fish?
Only the things she's actually responsible for. Like pregnancies, and the health of unborn children. But it doesn't take worship of men, to avoid worshipping women out of all responsibility.
Some of these women would down bottles of vodka and then when their child is born with fetal alcohol syndrome claim it's not their fault.
He who casts the first stone....... So what part of the WHO plan are you helping to enact? https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/congenital-anomalies Are you supporting women in poverty so they have a better diet? Are you giving money th research to stop the spread of Zika Virus? Are you going to go door to door offering to change the kitty litter of any pregnant women in case they get toxoplasmosis? Oh! And BTW stigmatising people only stops them from discussing risk behaviours with health professionals
Everyone in the First World can afford (and find) healthy food. It's as simple as buying a 10kg bag of brown rice, bulk dried beans and lentils, canned fish, and whatever vegetables and/or fruit are in season and therefore cheap. Cheap wholemeal bread can be purchased at supermarkets, and cheap milk and eggs can always be sourced. Drink herbal teas (even Aldi has them at a fraction of normal retail prices) or water. Buy raw nuts in bulk and gently roast them dry (unsalted) for healthy snacks high in folate and omega 3. You're not going to convince anyone that people buying a ton of meat, a ton of cheese, processed and packaged foods, and soda, are going to have a lower grocery budget than the one above. As always, you pretend that these things aren't a choice.
There are far more preventable diseases than NTD How about the one affecting large numbers of Australians FASD?
It has nothing to do with poverty. It's a CHOICE. We're not discussing Zika virus, we're discussing NTDs. 'stigmatising' people is exactly what is needed. humans do not do well when absolved of responsibility.
I normally would disagree with that but in this case it seems like some of the pro-choicers in this thread have abandoned all sense of responsibility.
Bullshit! There are homeless women out there, often with families, there are women living in poverty because the men they are living with are smoking and drinking the household money Sadly Maccas is cheap and quick and when you are a working mother not getting support from your partner....... Do not underestimate ignorance either. A couple of years ago indigenous women were noticing that the children were unable to remember storyline’s. FASD came as a shock to the elders, They started TV advertisements to spread the word https://www.mja.com.au/journal/2012...ohol-and-road-fetal-alcohol-spectrum-disorder Again what are YOU personally doing about protecting the unborn? Are you helping in women’s aid centres? Are you giving money to assist with education of young women? Or are you just “playing the blame game”
