Question to Pro-Choicers: Do you believe it's okay for a pregnant woman to drink as much alcohol as she wants, as long as she's planning to get an abortion? And after she binge drinks a couple dozen bottles of vodka (and maybe partakes in some cocaine too) does that then put her under an obligation to get an abortion? Does it make her a bad mother if she now decides she doesn't want to go through with the abortion after all? The fetus could be born with fetal alcohol syndrome or turn out to be a crack baby. It's her body, isn't it? It should be okay if she wants to drink and put drugs into her body, right? I anxiously await your answers. (though suspect all I will get are deflects)
I doubt you or anybody can stop a pregnant woman drinking as much alcohol as she wants even if she's NOT planning on getting an abortion.
Remembering that like the folic acid deficit the damage is often done in the first few weeks, often before the woman is even aware she is pregnant So are we going to regiment who drinks? Will we stand over every young woman to ensure she has the right diet? Will we march them around the streets to ensure correct exercise?
I believe I have answered this before.....all living things have a right not to be tortured, abused or killed without sufficient reason. A fetus is a living thing therefore the woman's behavior is unethical.
Edna, the fetus is a fetus not a child. It can only suffer what its mother does, and anything legal like coffee or drugs or alcohol or whatever is said but legal.
All living things have a right not to be abused. By raising the ethical standards of society. It has been done with many other issues.
And yet YOU think that a person that irresponsible and bent on self-destruction should be FORCED to carry a fetus to term. WTF are you thinking?
. That has nothing to do with abortion where NO one is abused. To stop something that has been going on for centuries, even thousands of years? That's quite a task you are putting yourself to. BTW, I think it's highly ethical to abort a fetus one doesn't want and/or can't afford. I think "ethics" , in regard to abortion, are doing just fine...
Should we just sterilize them then, if that's the case? Would certainly save a lot of abortions from needing to happen.
Or cigarette smoke. Effects of Smoking While Pregnant: Dangers to Your Baby And no, the fetus doesn't just suffer what the mother does, in its developing state it is far more vulnerable.
do you eat any veggies? toss live lobster/crab into scalding water? ever visit a slaughter house? dairy farm?
Pro-choicers are very inconsistent on that idea when it comes to other situations. It seems like it's only a thing when you want it to be.
nope, it's always just a thing, till it rears it's ugly head from the vaggina, it's just a thing, sometimes they remain just things even after...
Are you saying living things do not have a right not to be abused, tortured or killed without sufficient reason? So it's okay with you to torture and kill animals for no reason?
you said: ergo i asked you: aren't you contributing to their suffering? they are part of 'all living things'... are some living things more worthy than other's? or are all things just things?
You missed the point.....again Abortion is not abuse but how it is treated prior to that per the OP can be called abuse. Ethical standards have evolved throughout history. At one time torturing animals was public entertainment. You could beat your children. Women were subservient.
Can vegetables be abused? All living things have a right not to be killed without sufficient reason. What is the best way to kill a lobster? A hammer or boiling water? Isn't bacon sufficient reason to kill a pig? To most it is. I've worked on a dairy farm and they are happy cows. Some living things have more worth, from our perspective that is.
